Never say never. As mentioned above Lamberti left his previous stop I think mid-intro presser lol.

It's a job. For them, it's a business. It's not personal. That's the nature of the beast. Coming home has an appeal (to some).

I think Fayetteville has great potential for Crutch ball. Great talent in that area. If they embrace Crutch ball, they will be dangerous.

If they go outside the Crutch tree, then it will complete the trifecta of wlu standard for athletic success - football, women's basketball and now men's basketball.

Danny is a great coach. Very good recruiter.

            Lunatic but great coach.

Well...Lamberti "abandoned" Western Colorado for Coker before even coaching a game there so it wouldn't be without precedent for Hoehn to leave Fayettville. If he did, I would imagine that you could take Fayettville off the WLU dance card for about a decade!

It's still an issue, but in a different way. The new 3 pt shooter issue is will there be any left on the Hilltop after Ben drives out the gate towing his U-Haul. The next issue is does the new guy even want 3 pt shooters and lastly, are there any (ANY) left in the portal!!!

I was joking about a return to a 2013 style WLU roster but that might be our only option. Heck...We might go back to a 2003 style roster when we were happy to win games 71-68.

Like I said yesterday, it's not personal. At its core, coaching is simply a job. It's no different than an employee switching to a different company. Happens daily. Schools very rarely enforce contracts so these guys can freely F people over.

Most of those D1 coaches sling the Bible practices and skip out on a moments notice for a small pay bump. They are mostly all full of $hit.

Well as the saying goes, just because you can, doesn't mean you should and just because others do it doesn't mean you should. Coaches are great at preaching team and how each player needs to depend on their "brothers" to do the right thing, be in the right place and help lift them up when they fall...Then when an opportunity comes to leave for more money, they are gone baby gone. I don't begrudge a coach for "looking out for his (real) family" and taking the extra pay, but please don't tell me what a team guy you are and how you build a culture of family. That's just makeup you put on to hide your true self and that your fans put on to cover their pain for buying into your "we are family" mantra for all these years.

                      • I'm beginning to think this may be an exception to the rule. I certainly don't think Devin Hoehn would bounce around on a whim, but West Liberty is a very unique opportunity, since (1) He's a grad, (2) It's close to home, and (3) It's a fantastic Division II job. The stars align.

I think WLU would be successful with either Hoehn or Lamberti. Has to be one of those two (or Fee, if available).

People on Twitter were pushing for Bobby Huggins.

Not joking. He does need a job.

Yeah, just looking at the factors you mentioned, if WL wants Hoehn, I’d be really surprised if he said no. It would suck for Fayetteville, but it sucks for WL that Howlett just left and may well take several players with him. Sometimes these things just happen. It’s the nature of the sport.

Not going to happen but that would be rich! During his WJ days, he had no love for WLU, the WLU Style or the WLU fans! That would be like Nick Saban going to coach Ohio State!
