They could hire his dad, who is the head coach at LaRoche. Career win% of .540 and already knows how to coach with a chicken scratch budget.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
Purely a hunch here ... but I think Rowan Carmichael's phone will be ringing a lot today.
I wouldn't mind him seeing a call from Indiana, Pa.

From the sounds of it, unless Chalas just wants the resume builder, Edinboro isn't even starting salary at what hes making at Gannon.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View PostTop assistants at Gannon and IUP would be nice.
I like the guy at Washington & Jefferson, too.
Real reach would be McConnell at St Francis.
Nuclear option is KR.

"$85,000 to $95,000 Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience"

He'd be the highest paid assistant in PSAC basketball history if he's anywhere approaching that.

Typically, it's a whole hell of a lot cooler to be Batman than it is to be Robin.
However, I fully suspect this is Bazzoli's last season on Peach Street. Perhaps Chalas is the HC in waiting.
Not to mention, by the time Edinboro goes through all the union procedures, etc., it could be early August by the time they hire somebody. That's not exactly appealing to an incoming coach.
Jennings is a big loss. He was finding ways to put (mostly) competitive teams on the floor. Given the finances and facility, Edinboro isn't an easy gig. People have jobs this time of the year. The salary sure as hell isn't going to motivate many to leave their current job.

If there weren't already so many vacancies in the MEC, I'd be hopeful they'd get some traction from down there. But I think they'll get some mid-major assistant action (like Jennings) and probably some some D3 head coaches.
Facility isn't great but they've put some lipstick on the old girl. Upside is that a full renovation is coming if someone is willing to stick around.

Agreed. They will get some decent candidates from the assistant ranks.
If Edinboro wanted to go (very) young, they could look at Luke Dyer. He played at WL and has been the top assistant for Ron Fudala down at USCB. The PSAC is a good league with a good reputation. They'll get some good candidates -- late June or not. Unfortunately, the salary isn't going to keep anybody around very long.
McComb is deceivingly large. I get used to watching it on web streams and then when I go up I remember how big it is inside. Depending on how much coin they are going to dump in there, they could do some neat stuff. I think Clarion was the gold standard in renovating these old gyms. The current edition of Tippin in very nice.
Another strong candidate is Pitt-Bradford's Daniel Smay. He coached under Lombardi at IUP. He's a good recruiter and knows the area/league.
