Any whispers in the MEC venues about who will come in to coach CARDINALS MBB ? It's 49 days without leadership and each day makes the job of salvaging a semblance of a program more difficult.....anyone out there ????

Don't know anything about this cat but he seems like a pretty good hire...at this late date. D1 assistant for a fairly good Purdue-Ft Wayne program. Three years HC experience at Indiana Tech were he led them to an NAIA national ranking and a trip to the NAIA championship tourney. Seems like a blue collar, lunch pale kind of guy.
Interesting note...Looks like the teams he has been part of have been heavily involved in the Prep/JUCO/Transfer market. IF he has a tentative offer from WJ, he needs to be hitting his "sources" in those markets HARD starting yesterday! FIRST meeting he needs to have at 8:00 AM on his first day is with Preston Boswell in Magnolia to tell him in no uncertain words that HE wants him to lead the team...Second meeting that day needs to be with Bobby Bracket to offer him a full time assistant job...Day 2 he needs to drive into Maryland and meet individually with the three HS recruits that had previous offers with WJ and pitch the "unique opportunity" they have to come in and be starters from day 1.
Guess the silver lining to having almost your entire team leave via graduation/transfer is you have plenty of scholarship $!! Every year there seems to be a number of players that have to take a summer class to graduate and become eligible. As most schools have committed all their scholly money by then, WJ could be in position to get a good player or two that they may not have been in position to get otherwise.Last edited by boatcapt; 06-27-2018, 10:14 AM.

The Prep/Juco/Transfer market can be a really sketchy part of college basketball.
Only question for PB is coach you know or new coach , either way he'll be close to 40 minutes per game.
Recruits are always a question. Did you sign for the coach or the school ?
Time is ticking.

Re: Wju rumors....
The irony .... he'll be going head to head for the leftovers with Sancomb. This year, anyway.
I can't fathom why Boswell would consider staying. This is his 'out' and his coach is 35 miles away. Free transfer ... no sitting out.
Granted, we may be hyping him a bit much. He's not going to have Highsmith or Moseh stealing all the defensive attention anymore.

Prep/JUCO/Xfer market is sketchy. Some coaches have a nack and others don't. Seems like this cat has experience in this market as these types of players played significant parts of the Perdue-Ft Wayne roster while he was there last year and a significant part of the Indiana Tech roster when he was there. I would assume that he has a number of "contacts" who can let his interest in finding these type of players be known.
I would note that unless WJ has given Boswell his release, it doesn't really matter how close Sancomb is. Boswell is going into his Senior campaign so it is doubtful he would be willing to sit out if WJ does not give him a release. Now that said, you want a willing engaged player so as a coach, you probably need to kiss his a$$ a little.
I note that the recruits hadn't actually signed with WJ before Sancomb was fired so their attachment to him is at least debatable. Maybe they do love them some Danny, but maybe not. Make your strongest pitch and a top notch offer and see what happens.
YES...Time is ticking...For BOTH teams!!!!
