Maybe Mercyhurst doesn't use a tier system.

                    Oops
Meant to say another GU WBB commit, MARGO LOUTZENHISER of Warren HS and PIAA D10 POY, is also in the awkward spot of having agreed to play for a coach who is no longer there. I know there's been changes recently but what rights do players have when a coach leaves or is fired. If she has a choice, she could do a lot worse than joining WHS grad DJ HAHN @CAL U.

They don't have any rights. They should pick the school and not the coach.

They can beg for their release but GU doesn't have to grant it.

While you're correct that they should choose the school, the reason that WBB programs at CAL, IUP and BORO are consistently loaded has less to do with the quality of education at those universities, as good as it may be, and more to do with the opportunity to play BB at a high level with a legitimate chance to go deep in the NCAA playoffs. In the world of DII WBB the PSAC is a significant player on the national scene sending a team to the EE on a very regular basis. It may be that GU will hold on to all their recruits but it may not be in the best interests of the student-athletes.
