Hard to fathom but the regular season is already a third over for many teams (by Dec 6). Here are some conference rankings based solely on observation and the naked eye. You math guru's can use the formulas.

| 1 | Shippensburg | 4-0, 7-0 | Fite won a huge game at IUP and hung on after giving up a 19-point lead. Very nice mix of size and guard play. Team is also banged up with a couple players out. |
| 2 | IUP | 3-1, 8-1 | Kutztown was a big win. Lost a late lead against Ship. Fairmont looms Dec 19. |
| 3 | Kutztown | 3-1, 6-1 | Senior-laden team. Has improved since last year's regional final finish. |
| 4 | ESU | 4-0, 6-3 | Odd, slow start. Three straight wins. Lot of talent, speed and rebounding |
| 5 | Gannon | 3-1, 4-2 | Next four games will tell a lot. Schedule to this point has been so-so. Knights have Bowie, ESU, Wheeling and IUP up next. Time to see if contenders or pretenders. |
| 6 | West Chester | 3-1, 4-4 | A 4-4 record with this roster ... something is up. A lot of 'JUCO Stars' were recruited. Meshing issues, perhaps? Likely. |
| 7 | SRU | 2-2, 5-4 | Big win over WCU. In typical Reynolds fashion team is getting better with each game. Tough out by mid-Jan. |
| 8 | UPJ | 1-3, 5-4 | Disappointing start after high expectations ... continuing to drop close games. |
| 9 | Mercyhurst | 2-2, 4-3 | Rebuilding instead of typical reload? Mercy usually starts slow. |
| 10 | Seton Hill | 2-2, 5-3 | Always under the radar |
| 11 | Millersville | 3-1, 4-3 | Winning but winning ugly against some bad teams. Schedule has been favorable. |
| 12 | Clarion | 2-2, 4-4 | Some real close loses. Trip to WL looms. |
| 13 | Mansfield | 2-2, 4-3 | Expected better start after Duquesne win. Trip to IUP up next. |
| 14 | Bloomsburg | 0-4, 3-4 | Bloom is way better than its record and its recent technical foul festival at Gannon. But, the record is the record -- Can't hide from it. |
| 15 | Edinboro | 0-4, 2-5 | Looking like a one-trick-pony team. Shut down the pony, shut down the Scots. Mayson has no help so far. |
| 16 | Lock Haven | 1-3, 5-3 | Fast start against some strange opponents may be a mirage. Poor start in PSAC play. |
| 17 | Cal | 0-4, 2-7 | Vulcans have been competitive most nights -- for a while at least. Roster is pretty thin talent-wise. |
| 18 | Cheyney | 1-3, 1-7 | Didn't shy away from playing a tough schedule. Nice win at Cal this past weekend. |
