Just as IUP, wlu had elevated its play to separate, higher level from FSU, Charleston and WV State. I agree they would likely have met in the finals. It would have been some very high level basketball.

Not sold that WLU would've made the finals last year. They would've most likely had to play 2 meat grinders to get there and we all know how they fared the previous year again Hurst!

Agree nothing is a given, just like iup losing to hurst on their home court in the 2019 semis. Hopefully that 27 yr old big has graduated lol!

every year is different and it is all about matchups.

we all know wlu can shoot the 3 (42% as a team).
this team is much more athletic than past teams.
- have two shutdown guards. Once assigned to guard him, Malik held Abrams of wv state to 5 points in semis. He hits 42% of threes and can beat u off the dribble. He is jevon carter-like in his ability to harass you and steal the ball!

- patrick robinson III is an elite scorer who finishes at the rim. Hit 44% of threes.
- yoakum hit 50% threes and can slash and dunk over you
- 1st team all american in bolon who was on a streak of double doubles.
- luke led nation in assist to turnover ratio at 5.9, which is second highest in ncaa history while hitting 44% from three and creating many steals and turnovers.

opposing coaches cannot agree on who is the best or most valuable player on the team!

- now wlu has 2 athletic bigs who can run the floor and shoot the 3 in hazelbaker and watson.

- add in 3,000 point scorer rasile and he will carve up a zone from 35 ft.

No one is ever a shoe in to make a finals game. Upsets happen almost every year. Buuuuttttt...Last year the two LIKELY regional finalists were IUP and WLU. Both were at the top of their games and it quite possibly would have been an instant classic. Projecting forward to this year, WLU is effectively the same team they had last season so barring another team jumping up and having a dramatic improvement (OR serious injuries on WLU), there is every reason to believe they again would have been one of the top two teams in the regional finals.

How many D2 conferences are actually playing as a whole? I don't want to know about a few teams that are doing their own thing.

I know MEC and G-MAC are. What other conferences are?
