I knew when I took a break from my Friday evening business and saw a 13-10 1st qtr lead that this would be a bad night. 27.1% FG, 11.8% 3PT and 19 TO is not going to win many games. Actually kind of amazed the game was that close. Every team in every sport has these games. Only thing to do is forget it, get a good night's sleep and come back ready to erase the smell of a rare stinker.

They don't deserve it but the WARRIORS WBB are getting the brunt of the anger from last night's debacle. After 3qtrs CAL U 56 ESU 19. TERRELL seems to be taking the 4th off with 21 pts and 11 rbds. The bench is being cleared.
Uneventful 4th qtr....final CAL U 69 ESU 29. JS basketball ball versus a pretty limited WARRIOR squad. Shooting not dramatically better than last night but 2 stats stick out...TO 11-27 and POTO 40-2 almost the final score diff. Next stop post finals is a 4 hr bus ride to face the BSU BULLDOGS at 1:00 pm 12/11 in Maryland,

VULCANS WBB on the road heading to a 1:00 pm game with CIAA-NORTH power BSU. The BULLDOGS have finished second in '18-'19 and 19-20 to VUU but managed to upset the #1 PANTHERS in the '19 tourney. Currently they're off to a slow 2-4 start including losses @ SHIP and @SHEP but never a team to rest on. Updates via live stats as available.

Nice ride to the Capitol area for VULCANS WBB who come away with a sloppy but easy 64-41 W over BSU. The BULLDOGS actually won the 1st and 3rd qtrs 25-29 but got crushed in the 2nd and 4th by 39-12. OK overall shooting...26/48 FG .542, but 5-16 3s .316 and 7-12 FT .583 both need improvement. Too many TO 22-21 but BSU was not able to take advantage. Individually, as usual, it was the Dejah Terrell show with 32 pts(13/16, 3/5, 3/7) 7 rbds and 3 blks. Herrington was next with 10 but overall this would be a losing effort against many PSAC teams. Hopefully, we'll chalk it up to finals week rust.
Next up a week of uninterrupted practice before 3-4 WCU and 1-5 MILL arrive at an emptier than usual ANGELO DOME next Saturday and Sunday.

With 30% of the VULCANS WBB schedule complete, JS is using an 8 player rotation made up of SO/JR aside from FR Burris. 93% of the PT goes to Harrison-219 TM/31.3 MPG, Terrell-192/27.4, Loyd- 191/27.3, Allen- 182/26.0, Bennett-180/25.7, Hudson-173/24.7, Herrington-96/16.0 and Burris-72/10.3. Those 8 account for 97% of the scoring.

VULCANS WBB moved to 7-1 with a 97-60 win over WCU. 38/68 FG, 11/28 3s and 10/14 FT were more than the RAMS defense could handle. The CAL U defense held WCU to 22/62 FG, 4/10 3s and 12/19 FT while forcing 21 TO resulting in 25 POTO. Loyd led with 21pts & 6 asst followed by Terrell with 17 pts & 8 rbds and Herrington with 13 pts & 5 asst & 3stls.
Back tomorrow afternoon 1:00 pm for MILL.

Olivia Hudson carried off court in obvious distress. Likely a recurrence of an ACL injury she had in HS. From the look of her I'd say she's done for the year. Really sad.

Unimpressive W over MILL WBB 59-46. Weak shooting but +10 on TO. VULCANS WBB head home for the holidays at 8-1, but probably without their #3 scorer for the remainder of '21-'22. Merry, Happy ?????

Today's game versus KUTZ " has been postponed due to COVID 19 concerns. The teams will look to reschedule the contest for a later date."
No indication about who has the concerns or if the MBB game will also be affected.
If these concerns were CAL U related, I'm guessing Wednesdays game with IUP may be in jeopardy. Waiting to hear.

The Indiana Gazette said today the IUP vs Cal women's game for Wednesday has been PPD due to covid issues inside the Vulcans program. No makeup date has been announced.

That sucks !!! It's going to be almost impossible to get into a game rhythm after so much time off and @UPJ, @SHEP and SRU following on 1/8,10,12. Ah, well...just have to deal with it.

VULCANS WBB away games at UPJ 1/8 and SHEP 1/10 have been postponed due to COVID ISSUES. KUTZ rescheduled for 1/17 at 1:00 and IUP for 1/31 at 5:30. This season apparently will go on but will be nothing like normal.

Pretty much the same story as the loss at BLOOM, playing against a disciplined BORO 2-3 zone, VULCANS WBB had no answer for it and lost 53-62. That number for the SCOTS is exactly the defensive average CAL gives up, but the number they generated is -25% of their usual 72.
Wednesday at 3-11 CLARION and Saturday at 6-8 M'HURST shouldn't be an issue but it depends on which team shows up.

As expected, VULCANS WBB had an easy time with Golden Eagles winning 71-47. As opposed to Saturday at BORO, shooting was decent FG-46%, 3pt-36.8% and FT- 60%. TERRELL and LOYD both with 18, ALLEN 15. TO 15-27 resulting in 24-13 POT edge.
Saturday at HURST will be a more difficult game.

They need to send the point guard back to the playground, no discipline, hustle. Way to may turn overs & no defense. The bench can do as much as some of the starters on the court that are playing 30-35 minutes+.

Please check your info. VULCANS WBB has the third FEWEST TO in PSAC and the BEST record at producing opponent's TO. Their TO MARGIN, 8.73, is the best in the league and 7th best in the NCAA. Also #1 scoring offense and #1 scoring defense in the PSAC. What games are you watching ??
