    IUP ladies had two sign this morning.

    Joe has a verbal but haven't seen anything official yet (Waldo).

      Now it's official. Dolan Waldo has signed at IUP.

      Pretty rare for Joe to do an early signing.

        Actually kind of surprised I've nothing to report so far. All CAL sports but especially FB, MBB and WBB usually have someone pop up on Day 1.

          Today wasn't football day in D2. That's not until after the New Year.

              GU WBB adds two
              ERIE, Pa. - While the Gannon women's basketball team doesn't open the 2021-22 season until Saturday when Bluefield State visits the Hammermill Center, head coach Cleve Wright is already making sure that his Lady Knights will be successful for years to come. The veteran coach today announced the addition of a pair of players to national letters of intent as future Lady Knights.

              Wright and his staff headed to the Buckeye state to replenish his roster, adding guard Briana Claxon from South Webster (Ohio) High School and forward Andrea Maibach from Norwayne (Ohio) High School.

              Here's a look at the two newest Lady Knights:

              BRIANA CLAXON - Guard -- 5'7" -- South Webster High School (OH)
              A three-sport standout in basketball, volleyball and softball ... a two-time Division IV All Ohio selection, earning second team honors a year and third team as a sophomore in 2019-20 ... also a two-time first team all-district selection and South Ohio Conference honoree ... enters her senior year with over 1,000 career points after scoring 537 points as a junior and 428 as a sophomore ... led the Jeeps to a 14-8 record in 2020-21, reaching the Division IV district semifinals ... averaged 24.4 ppg. and 4.3 rpg., along with 3.2 steals and 1.9 assists per game ... shot 48 percent from the floor and 68 percent from the line while making 25 3-pointers ... scored a school-record 43 points against Eastern High School ... as a sophomore in 2019-20, averaged 18.6 ppg. and 5.2 rpg., with 2.6 steals and 1.8 assists per game ... shot 43 percent from the floor and 64 percent from the line with 19 3-pointers ... in volleyball, is a four-time All-SOC and all-district selection, earning first team accolades the last three years after earning honorable mention honors as a freshman ... in recent regional final game topped 1,000 career digs ... South Webster has advanced to the Final Four after reaching the Elite Eight as a junior and Sweet 16 sophomore year ... in softball, was a second team all SOC choice and earned honorable mention all- district accolades as junior.

              Head coach Cleve Wright comments: "We are excited to welcome Bri to the Gannon Women's Basketball family. She fits our program as player and as a teammate. Bri is a highly-competitive athlete who will bring quickness and explosiveness to our guards. She has the ability to score at all three levels and excels off the dribble."

              ANDREA MAIBACH - Forward -- 6'2" - Norwayne (Ohio) High School
              Has led Norwayne High School in rebounding the last two years ... as a junior, was a first team Division III All-Northeast Inland District selection and second team All-Wayne County Athletic League pick ... the Bobcats ended the year with a 23-3 record, reaching the Division III district final before losing to Warrensville Heights High School ... averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game a year ago while shooting 54 percent from the floor ... was an honorable mention all-district and all-league choice as a sophomore ... also a two-sport athlete, playing basketball and volleyball.

              Head coach Cleve Wright comments:"We're so happy to welcome Andrea to our basketball family. We love her size and energy in the post. Andrea is competitive and relentless making her an ideal post player. She will definitely impact our program on the floor, as well as off, with her desire to be a great teammate."
