One of the more sought after D2 players in the portal, PJ Hayes (formerly of Black Hills State), picked up offers from San Diego (regular San Diego ... not San Diego State) and Robert Morris yesterday.

He has a plethora of elite D2 offers, but mostly Robert Morris-type D1 offers.

Yeah ... Your days of 6'8", 245 lb power forwards are long gone. They don't work in that system.

He'll get some bigs but they'll be more in the 6'6", 180 lb range.

Yeah, the heavyweights usually don't have the stamina for that sort of system. He'll probably need at least a half-dozen guard types who can play decent ball.

Mercyhurst signed New Castle point guard Jonathan Anderson. About 5-9. Solid point guard and was the WPIAL Section 1-6A player of the year in a section with some tough kids from Butler and Central Catholic. Watched him for four years. Brother played four years at Navy. That's the local angle. (Was a Seton Hill commit. Not sure what happened there other than Mercyhurst is not Seton Hill.)

It's actually somewhat odd we don't see more New Castle players within the PSAC. Obviously they are a WPIAL powerhouse year in and year out.
