Pitt-Johnstown vs Notre Dame (neutral court) - Joe Lombardi will be envious of ND's 9-man roster. UPJ's Norman Dale offense puts them to sleep.

California at Fayetteville State - Tough place to play and FSU is getting votes in national polls. Danny has too much.

Shippensburg at West Liberty - Raiders probably could have found an easier game to break in a new starting unit.

Concord at IUP - Each teams' players will wear name tags. Todd May is one of the KCAC's favorite guests.

Shepherd at Virginia State - Rams may be dangerous this season -- depending, of course, which version shows up on a given night.

Lock Haven at Bowie State - Bald Eagles about to experience one of the more hostile home environments in D2.

Gannon at Charleston - Hype vs Hype (Gannon may be sneaky good this year). Toughest game on the board. Talent, yet unknowns on both sides. Home team wins.

West Chester at Virginia State - Rams always have talent. Rams just don't always play up to that talent. VSU is a tough place to play.

East Stroudsburg vs Lincoln (neutral court) - Lincoln lost so many single digit games last year it was sickening. They aren't a pushover.

Bluefield State at Clarion - The 37 Clarion fans in attendance will have Tippin rockin'. Golden Eagles are going to be pretty good.

        BONUS

In the games listed above, this team will score the fewest points: Bowie State tends to either score 95 or 51. But, its defense is always pretty strong. Lock Haven

LOL. Ya think? It will be useful as a measure of where the team is at and where it will need to go.

Imho it is a good time for a PSAC team to play them. Especially since you have an outstanding coach. Kutztown beat them in the opener 107-97 in 2018. The next night wlu beat a strong west chester team 94-80.

It would in a normal year since West Liberty will be debuting a lot of new people, but Ship has lost about 80 percent of its scoring and rebounding from last year and is adjusting to a new uptempo playing style. West Liberty has been playing that way quite a while, recruits to it, and should be more comfortable with it at this point, so I'd have to give them the edge at their place. As I said, it'll be a good measuring stick for Ship at this point.

I am an uptempo advocate, so I am glad to see another well coached team going to that style. Should be a very entertaining game. Plan on attending.

It's basically a matter of adjusting to our personnel this year as Ship doesn't have a lot of height. We do have what looks like a mobile and skilled big guy coming in midseason, but that's not going to help Nov. 9. They do have a lot of kids who can run this year, but not a single double-digit scorer returns so how it all will turn out remains to be seen. I give Coach Fite credit for moving away from a style that he has been very comfortable (and successful) with. We'll have the usual monster Ship early season schedule with two MEC teams away right off the bat and then IUP, Cal and The Rock in December, but hopefully the kids can adjust.

That speaks volumes about his excellence as a coach, to adapt to best fit the available personnel. It will be interesting to see if it portends a longer term direction beyond this season.
