Also a somewhat even game for VULCANS over the PIONEERS 84-71. The difference was CAL got out to a 41-24 lead in the first half and cruised the rest of the way. Shooting was the key with FG-45.8%/ 3PT-37.9% and FT-90.5%. Whithead- 26PTS, PALEK- 14PTS and LUCAS- 12PTS/13RBS led the scoring. Next up an embarrassing game at PSU-FAYETTE.

The game at Lemont Furnace, Pa (interesting name) was as expected a workout game. VULCANS topped basically a JC team from PSU-F 115-76. Only Palek had more than 20 minutes (23) and 13 had at least 5. Biggest plus was FT shooting continues very strong with 19-21/90%. Biggest minus was 3 PT shooting dropped off to 6-30/20% which doesn't bode well against real competition such as MEC pre-season #5 CONCORD on Saturday at the Angelo Dome. Out of curiosity, is there a recommended method for fixing 3PT shooting ?

I recall a decent shooting Ship team featuring Jake Biss go something like 3-for-31 behind the line in an OT loss to Lock Haven a couple of years back. Some nights you just don't have it.

Saturday evening vs MEC #5 CONCORD was a decent win, 89-69, after a weak first half. Good shooting, FG-49.3%/3PT-35.3%/FT-85.0%, and solid defense in the second half got the VULCANS past a team that should have been done in 20 minutes. Whitehead 26Pts, Palek 22Pts/14Rb and Polak19 Pts were the leaders as usual.
1-2 LINCOLN visits on Tuesday. The LIONS beat K'TOWN and lost to ESU earlier. Shouldn't be a difficult game.

Looks like you've got some players out there. It's not looking like a promising season for Ship, so I'm glad we're skipping you in the division crossovers this year. The schedule we have will be plenty.

Most likely one or the other. Should be interesting to see an experienced, and slightly wacky, HC crossing swords with a rookie, but program familiar, HC. How will Bazzoli react when Danny goes into his usual routine ? Which team will be able to get through the unpredictable PSAC West with the least damage. Will this be the year DS gets over the hump into the EE ? Inquiring minds want to know !!
We'll get our answer early as the VULCANS travel up I-79 on Jan 4 @ 3PM to open the West Division season.

There wasn't an obvious collision or fall and he limped off, but obviously CAL's season depends on his being in the lineup. Waiting to hear.

Watched the CUTV broadcast and yes, he was not happy, but what else is new with PSAC officiating. A lot of commentators rag on DS for his sideline conduct but there is some reason in his madness. The BOBBY KNIGHT SCHOOL OF GAME MANAGEMENT has many followers at all levels.

Nearly three years ago, 11/13/21, I made the following comment on one of his first games "He is scary thin at 6'8" and 215# and may not hold up to the pounding of college ball." Sadly you can't really do a great deal to build up his body type. My guess is he takes off/plays less between now and 1/4/25 in Erie.
