In the case of Charleston and Gannon, that's putting a lot of faith in a whole new coaching staff.

If any actual time was devoted to this I'd guess East Stroudsburg would be the highest ranked in the Atlantic.

Yes, the absence of the entire PSAC East is noted. We'll see if it still looks the same a couple of months from now.

Most of these preseason pills are built on last seasons results and historical team reputation. I doubt any of the voters did a deep dive on how the largely new WLU roster will help and mesh with the returners and then compare it to the other teams in the nation.

But it makes good fodder for the school athletic web site and bulletin board material for teams that feel disrespected because they weren't picked as highly as they think they should have been.

Preseason is heavily based on the previous years results... I'd like to believe when they say current rosters impact it, but I don't.. as I can't see how in any way a Gannon team with a new coaching staff and only returning a half-starter and a top reserve would be considered even remotely close to a national top 10 team lol now if they brought in a bunch of big name transfers maybe

With the wholesale turnover in many rosters, I don't think it has ever been harder to predict a season. I follow Ship pretty faithfully, and about the only conclusion I can draw is that they have more raw talent than last yer. That is tempered by the fact that they have seven freshmen. I obviously hope for a better record than last season, but I really have no idea what to expect.

I respect the returning talent ESU has, led by McAliley, and the ability of Wilson to recruit to his system, but upon doing a deeper dive into East rosters I was surprised to find they only had three juniors and three seniors on the roster. Millersville's Stitzel, for one, has hit the portal and his team this year includes five juniors, two seniors, and a couple of grad students. West Chester and Lock Haven also have rosters that are heavy with upperclassmen (junior and up) at 10 each. Ship is the only team in the East without either a senior or grad student on its roster.

Now it remains to be seen whether the high number of experienced players on some of these teams translates into results on the floor, but in the era of the portal it usually isn't a bad thing to have and abundance of juniors and seniors on your roster. It all adds up to another level of uncertainty for the season.

Good test though. Win, lose or blow out they immediately know where they're at
