State opens up with a 100-85 win over Livingstone in the Earl Lloyd Classic.

Game was tied at the half. State opened up a 93-73 lead with a few minutes left. State does have depth.

It is going to take some time to gel. I really like the Salem transfer.

We will have to play better to beat Claflin.

Women open up tomorrow at Virginia State in Petersburg.

State opens 2-0 with a six point win over Claflin.

Ish Smith, the JUCO from Monroe CC, is averaging 25.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg. The 11 assists to 4 turnovers line for him is refreshing. A lot of balanced scoring overall for this team. I think this team will win a lot of games in Institute. We will see how they fare on the road.

Next game is a road game against a 2-2 team that has two close losses against Top 15 teams.

Women's team goes 1-1 over the weekend at Virginia State.

Played decent against VSU which was picked #1 in the CIAA.

We beat Elizabeth City State by 20. They were picked 11th in their pre-season poll.

That was awful basketball this past weekend. I don't even want to talk about it. We didn't look prepared. Better figure a few things out or we get run out of Fairmont on Tuesday night.
