I guess my only question is they were 7th coming into the post-season tournament. I am sure Charleston winning the MEC knocked them out.

I haven't seen Abbie Smith play, but I find it hard to believe she would be better than Weaver.

I think Weaver is more athletic and dynamic than Smith. But Smith is hard to stop. She's a strong, powerful forward who does most of her scoring from a foot or two away from the basket. But she's really physical and difficult to move off that low block. Great touch from the free throw line, so "hack a Shaq" is a bad strategy. You pretty much have to let her get her 25 and stop everyone else--that was the defensive plan when playing Concord. Her game isn't a "pretty" game, but it's effective. Basically a double-double machine.

That said, I was admittedly surprised Weaver wasn't region POY.

Well one player's season is done and the other is playing in the tournament. I would give the edge to a player whose team actually made the tournament.

I’ve never liked all-star teams at any level or for any sport. Too much subjectivity. I’m sure all of these ladies are excellent players, but there are some names missing that should be on the list and there are several on the list that are on teams that didn’t make the tournament. I’m not saying that should be a prerequisite, but it should carry a little more weight. When I see a list that has two Seton Hill and two Lock Haven players, but just one each from Gannon and IUP, I call BS.

You got that right! Weaver and Claxon are very deserving for sure. But you are telling me two top 10 teams in the nation both only have one all-region player, and a team with two players isn't even in the tournament?

Well, put it this way: if you were having a live draft of the Atlantic Region ... I don't think several of those selected yesterday would be among the first 10 players chosen.

But, it's largely a stat thing. Players on lesser teams tend to have larger stat lines. Strong teams are more balanced and the scoring is spread around.

I'd be extremely hard-pressed to have any First or Second teams without Teresa Maggio and Ellie Wilkerson.

Just wondering if any school ever had three players on the All-Regional Team? Seems like a heavy lift for the reasons that you cited.

Sure was. I only remember this because of the dominance of Ashland that year (and who faced IUP in the national semis that year). They had three first teamers. The one ended up being national player of the year.

This Winston-Salem team isn't going to be fun to play. They are fierce defensively.

                        They are smothering GSU.

Watching the stats looks like it. But that is why you get the #1 seed, so you would only have to play them or Gannon in the regional finals.

Gannon fans can't complain about the officiating today.

In case anybody hasn't figured it out, you want to watch the broadcast through NCAA.com

There is a link on IUP's tournament page.

The broadcast on the PSAC app is announcer-less and awful quality.

Apparently the NCAA doesn't allow the good broadcast on the PSAC Digital Network.

                              It never ends.

Also, the in-game music is from the NCAA-approved play list.

                                Hence the Katy Perry marathon.
