PSAC Tournament changing format

Well, new format or whatever, there really were no surprises Wednesday night. Divisional play had already proven the West was better this year. The Millersville-Seton Hall and IUP-West Chester games were battles. The high-performing Cal came out at home and handled Shepherd pretty easily. Nobody thought East Stroud had much of a chance against Gannon, which plays a full-court game like East Stroud does, but plays it much better. The top guys in the East have to pick up the recruiting, and the whole league has to try and figure out a way to rein in Gannon.

Cal recorded postgame interviews and they're on the digital page

Coach mentioned how he liked the new format for playoffs that playing a different team finally had a nice change of pace and how it was nice that they played a team they'd not played in crossover. Which made me curious...

Gannon did not play Bloom so WBB had new opponent
Gannon did not play East Stroudsburg so MBB had a new opponent

IUP did play at Millersville, WBB won 88-49
IUP did play at West Chester, MBB lost 88-83

Seton Hill did host Kutztown, WBB won 83-53
Seton Hill did not play Millersville so MBB had new opponent

Cal did not play Shepherd so MBB had new opponent

Edinboro hosted Lock Haven, WBB won 70-62

I had IUP counted out about 5 times during that game and they just kept getting up off the mat.

Same. I thought they were gonna blow it when the announcers mentioned that WCU and IUP had met 4 times previously in playoffs, and both West Chester wins were buzzer beaters. It felt too poetic!

Thought IUP took a huge chance trying to score with 10 seconds remaining. They had every chance to hold for last shot and at worst got to OT. When he missed the free throw... Oof!

Will the Mill host all four games Saturday or will they move either the men or women to Prep?

Correct, the Mill is all day. Games are 12, 230 530 and 8 (same schedule as Regionals for reference). I'd assume Prep has HS games for PIAA.

12 is IUP vs Edinboro

230 is Gannon vs Seton Hill

530 is Gannon vs IUP

8 is Cal vs Seton Hill

Championships are 1230 for women, 330 for men Sunday

Funny enough, Saturdays men's games are a rematch of last Saturday on different courts. Also think it's fascinating that of the three schools to expect to have both teams in the final four, not once would I have guessed Seton Hill as the third.

They had to beat a wild crowd (with fights in it), a terrible zebra crew and a phantom score table malfunction on their last possession. Not to mention a tough, physical team.

The true IUP fans know this season is only going so far but tonight was a really big win.

For reference: I just watched the IUP-WCU game and all the juice that was in that gym. Now I've flipped over to D&E-Point Park at a neutral site in the MEC tourney and I'm pretty sure there are literally more game officials at the scorer's table than there are fans in the stands.

I guess I don't understand. Thought last year was ridiculous that Shepherd was rewarded to host just because they were the top remaining in the East by luck of the rotational draw. My issue is that weak divisions got to host bc of the rotation but maybe it's because the east has really fallen behind in the last decade imo.

I flash back to neutral site for the GLIAC tourney and am absolutely fine with small college tourneys being at home personally.

I believe they just said gannon women will play at 230 snd men at 530

I would expect either 11, 1, 3, 5 or 1, 3, 5, 7. Or (if theyre going to charge separately like they do for atlantic regional) probably 11, 1, 4, 6 or 11, 1, 5, 7. Along those lines.

Excited about not potentially having to jump between two championships games at the same time. Very curious how this would play out for game times.

I think a home school should be rewarded for hosting if they earn the regular season crown, but otherwise make sure it is a neutral site. Not a fan of the top seed NOT hosting and some other location hosting which is also the home floor of another school.

Honestly don't think that's true at all. Far less administrative burden to have it all at one site.

This change had a pretty significant impact in women's soccer, in which there are no regular-season cross-divisional games and the divisional double round robin doesn't leave much room for non-conference games.

The East won all four quarterfinals. Bloomsburg, who'd been left out of the last regional rankings (9 places) before selections after losing to Millersville in the first round of the PSAC tournament, got enough of an SOS boost that they jumped all the way to 5th in final selections without playing a game in between.
