Ayden Goll from Wheeling (MEC's Freshman of the Year)

Lots of firepower in those three big moves. Seemed pretty clear that Wheeling and Frostburg weren't going to hang on to those guys.

Edit: Just noticed that just hours after entering the portal, Simmons already has a D1 offer from Southern Miss. Chances are that guy won't be around D2 next year.
Montano is talented enough that somebody (likely in this region) will sign him.

I'd assume Goll is just going up the Hill. That seems to be the minor league affiliate of WL.

I'd agree Simmons has played his last game in the bus leagues.

It seems like as long as Montano doesnt get hurt, he gets along with coaches lol or if he gets hurt they just need to excuse him until hes recovered hahaha he went to Frostburg to be closer to home, he has played in The System... if I was WLU - Id risk it. The upside is huge.. he was averaging like 30 a game before he got hurt.

During the Frostburg/Fairmont game, the commentator even made mention that the "Bobcats family expected this could be his last game". And he needs to thank Montano lol he took off after said injury.

Wlu chooses players on much more than bball talent. Just do not see it happening. Rumor is d1 for montano.

Interestingly, one of the guys Howlett took with him to IU-Indy is now in the portal: Point Park transfer Aidan Miller. Wonder if Aidan will drop back down to D2?

Given Montano's history, I wonder if he gets that much interest from D-1 schools? But I guess a sucker is born every day so someone will probably bite.

There's WAY more pressure to win and to win quickly up there.

This is a shady business. If you can play, you'll find a home (regardless how many times you've been asked to leave from other places). So long as you don't have a really messy criminal history, coaches will take chances (and, even then they often times do).

Obviously he's not going to be getting a call from Major D1, but he could get some rings from the low level.

If not, he'll probably end up at Slippery Rock.

Dude is cancer at this point. Allegedly dismissed from two programs in two years. You'd have to have a very mercenary approach to player acquisition to go after him at this point. Some low D1s might just have that approach. But so, too, do many lesser D2 programs. I would be hard pressed to believe WLU would want to invite that drama to the program.

Would agree that WLU has too many other options available to the program without the inherent headaches of Montano. Boy, the legacy this guy is building..........it's really a shame when you think about it.

I would be flabbergasted. Howlett has said that guys that he recruits are people he would like to associate with off the court.

It seemed like he had challenges in playing with the extreme effort that the style requires.
