(Posted in "Regional ranking predictions" thread under General Discussion)Being the only conference with four teams in the top 10, coupled with being the only conference that plays a double round robin, means that the GAC teams have played more games against other top 10 teams than the MIAA and NSIC teams have. That could prove to be helpful for the conference. Meanwhile, Missouri Southern is 0-2 against the rest of the top 10, Northern State is 1-4, and Sioux Falls is 1-1. (Is 1-1 really a worse record than 3-4? Maybe not, but Oklahoma Baptist's 3-4 includes wins over SEOSU and SNU.)

I expect these teams, in some order, to be the committee's top 10. Upper Iowa has a nice 4-1 mark against the top 10, but I don't think that's enough to get them in.

I believe that the MIAA has 3 teams locked into the regional right now and the GAC has two. For the NSIC if Northern and Duluth take care of business and each win their next 3 games against bad opponents they are in. That leaves one spot and I would say that it is USF's to lose. They will need to beat Augie this weekend and if they win a couple games in the NSIC tourney I think they will be in. Of course Upper Iowa, Winona, Mankato, Augie, or Moorhead could win the NSIC tourney and take that last spot as well. If USF falters and either Northern or Duluth win the tourney then there will be a third GAC team.

I personally hope Augie plays their best game of the season this Friday

Here's my take on the Central Region:

                        MIAA
                        NW Missouri St - IN
                        Rogers St - IN
                        Mo Southern - IN

                        NSIC
                        Northern St - IN
Duluth - IN if they beat Concordia on Wednesday
USF - needs to get to tourney semis for sure and probably make it to the championship game to get in

                        GAC
                        Southern Nazarene - IN
SE Oklahoma - IN (as long as they don't stumble early in tourney)
Henderson St - could get in by beating SE Oklahoma this week and advancing in tourney
OK Baptist - needs help from USF and Henderson

One of the teams listed will win the MIAA and GAC tournaments, but there could be a Cinderella to win the NSIC and take the 8th spot.

The question right now is how fall will Southern drop. Not going to lie, I would love to see them on the bottom of the bracket. Hope they drop to 6th after the two losses this past week. No numbers to back it, just a guess on how it shakes out this week based on wins and losses of past week:

                          1. NW
                          2. Southern Nazarene
                          3. NSU
                          4. SE Oklahoma
                          5. Rogers St.
                          6. MSSU (they may be ranked at 5 but Rogers has H2H so I'm ranking it this way)
                          7. OK Baptist
                          8. UMD

I'm right there with you... The NW loss wasn't going to hurt Southern much, so I really hoped they'd stay in that 3 spot in the regional rankings, but dammit, MoWest is proving to be the real deal at home... we'll get our chance tomorrow. Anyway, providing NW would win their first regional game, facing MoSo and Martin in the 2nd round as a 4 or a 5 seed is tough... it's just a tough matchup. On the other hand, everyone will be good and have won a tournament game at that point. I'd just prefer for them to be knocked out and not have to deal with them anymore. If we're going to lose, I'm not sure why, but I'd rather it be to someone else... win or lose, I'm not sure my heart can take another game like the last one! ;)

Here's my projection for this week's ranking:If the teams to be included in the top 10 were clear last week, they're even more so now.

The 2-6 spots are close together in my weighted average, but when taking head-to-head and ranked wins into account, they seem to fall pretty clearly into the order I have them here. It seems odd for Rogers State to leapfrog Northern State after two unranked wins for both, but RSU's opponents were somewhat better and the games were on the road.
