  • MIAA--Week 8

The biggest story for week 8 is MO Western being out due to COVID. They were set for 3 games this week against NWMS, Newman & UCO. The NWMS/MWSU in St. Joe would have been a big one. The biggest games at the top of the conference are Lincoln hosing both Rogers St and NSU. Big week for Lincoln to add to their hot 6-2 start. The other intriguing games are in the middle of the conference and loom big for the conference tourney. Pitt State (8th) and MO Southern (6th) host UNK(9th) and FHSU(9th). There are 6 teams in the standings 5 thru 10 that are all fighting to get in the top 8. Still a long way to go but the head to head matches are huge for tie breaking purposes. At the top of the conference, NWMS has two home games against Newman and the always dangerous UCO. Washburn goes to Emporia State in a rivalry match-up where the Hornets always play the Ichabods tough. We are at the halfway point in the season for 5 teams. Six more teams will reach the halfway point this week and 3 teams (MO West, Lincoln and UCO) will still not be to the halfway point after this weekend due to COVID postponements.

Hard to beat anyone that shoots 60% from three. What is the prognosis on the big guy that has been out?

Ryan Hawkins had a great week and should be one of the leaders for MIAA player of the week. Hawk had a total of 53 points and 22 rebounds in two games.
