Will be interesting to see, like his brother he is a gritty player. Jake has proven to be a scorer, but always 3rd option with Smoldt and Williams, I think you'll see his scoring role open up more and his brother take on the PG role. UIU never runs very big and McKowen loves to push the pace up and down the floor. Smoldt was the size of the younger Hilmer and he/Hilmer were on the floor a lot together so nothing should change. They also have another stud coming in from Aplington that is a guard, expect him to come in and spell one of the Hilmers in the rotation. Will be fun to watch them get up and down.

Vikings get a PG commit from Wisconsin. 5'11" Arhman Lewis.

Looks to be a fairly quick, true PG:

Augustana gets a commitment from Iowa SG Brayson Laube.

Really excited about the group that's coming together between our 2022s and 2023s.

Vikes get a big time commitment from 6'8" SF Dallas Bear from Iowa. Ranked #2 in Iowa's recruiting class.

It's been quite a week for the Augie basketball program.

One more Iowa commitment for the Vikes. Caden Kirkman, a 6'8" big man from Iowa, just announced his commitment as well.

Kirkman is AAU teammates with Laube and Bear and is ranked #7 in Iowa according to Prep Hoops (for those who care about rankings). Welcome to Augustana, Caden!

Caden had a number of other offers including Upper Iowa.

Augie future appears very bright with what appears to be very good recruiting class getting lined up for 2023.

After a couple of uncertain years no doubt due to the D1 transition talk, Augie has certainly gotten recruiting back on track with the 2022 and 2023 classes. You can never know exactly how a recruiting class will pan out, but these two appear to be promising. They will be on the young side (but very talented) this year with all of the guys lost from last year, but if Texas Tom can keep these two classes together over the next 4 years look out.

Tom is not hiding his new gospel to combat potential losses to the transfer portal: sell AAU guys on playing together in college. It makes sense to me logically and UMD has practiced similar tactics in the past as well but not at the volume Tom is attempting.

Based solely on highlight reels Jackson Loge and Dallas Bear are athletes you don't see very often in D2. If their scoring translates to this level the ceiling is hard to imagine.

This season and next will likely be inconsistent as Tom initiates the youth movement but watching them try to figure it out will be entertaining on its own.
