If so, then this is the real "ding ding ding". Ironic that this was posted right after the AK-Anchorage gym.
I can see the beam underneath the hoop - I think it's a freestanding one.

This place is cool too... In contrast to the Alaska Airlines Center where everything looks new, the look, charm, and history of an older building that is done right is hard to beat. The way the seating is setup and the proximity to the floor, I can imagine how loud it gets when it's full. In all honesty, all of the gyms in this thread make me want to implode Bearcat Arena... there is some serious jealousy going on for sure.

It seems to me that basketball arenas tend to hang around longer, at least at this stage. Their small footprint, low upkeep, and popularity for multi-purpose use seems to create some really unique spaces. This thread was a lot more interesting than I thought it was going to be - that's for sure.

In comparison to baseball and hockey, the lower on the hierarchy you get (generally) the more homogenized the venues tend to become. Football seems to be stuck somewhere in the middle.

It was just announced today that Augustana will be playing all conference games at the Sanford Pentagon next season, while non-conference games will remain on-campus at the Elmen Center. It's a 10 year deal.

I'd hoped to see a game at the Sioux Falls Arena. I thought it had a unique look. It wasn't meant to be though - with the nasty January/February we had weather-wise, there was no way I was going to attempt to make it down to Sioux Falls.

Rex Pyles Arena at Alderson Broaddus University. Every seat is great, and yes I'm biased.

Let's see what Clarion University (out of the PSAC) has in store with it's new arena. Supposedly state of the art, but we'll see if it lives up to the hype and is able to rival KCAC (IUP) and CalU's facilities.

I will try to remember to post a photo, but St. Cloud State AD Heather Weems tweeted a photo of the center court in their old gymnasium - Eastman Hall. They are going to refurbish it and then move it to their current gym, Halenbeck Hall.

I thought that was a neat idea.

Southern Indiana has just opened their brand new "Screaming Eagles Arena". Excited to see some basketball played here in the fall.

Not sure how to post photos, but the only ones worth really posting about in the CIAA are VA State and Fayetteville State.

                    VA State - https://www.sbballard.com/portfolios...urpose-center/

                    Fayetteville State - https://fsubroncos.com/sports/2018/5...ties-html.aspx

Our arena at WSSU is older and not the largest (somewhere between 2,500 - 3,000 depending on who is selling tickets), but we tend to have a packed house and great environment for conference games. http://www.wssurams.com/sports/m-bas...tos/0005/index

Probably one of the best arenas in all of D2. Not sure how to post pictures, but this link to the architect's page has several including one of the running track around the top of the arena.

I bet the athletic department is wishing they would have put ice making capabilities in there about now. That is an awesome arena!

Elizabeth City has a pretty big arena too, but it honestly looks like a really big high school gym compared to Fayetteville and VA State.

The GAC has probably my favorite collection of arenas in Division II. Arkansas Tech has already been featured so I won't, but that one is close to the top. Other good ones

                              East Central

                              Harding

                              Southeastern Oklahoma State

They've hired architects to develop renovation plans for Lamkin. Funding, timeline, etc. is TBD.
