Nova Southeastern just rents players for a year. I am sure they have a new crop of them. Given their location, it is pretty easy to attract athletes to the school, especially those from the north that want to sit on the beach any time of the year.

Watching a lot of womens hoop in this early season. Grand Valley, Mankato, and IUP have been th Chr most impressive to me so far. I haven't watched the Texas teams yet so can't say my favorite down there yet. Probably Lubbock Christian as they are well coached and always tough
LCU is always good. Natural rivalry with WT. Wt appears to be special this year. 9 or 10 girls play every game with no drop off.
Wt has a favorable schedule this year. The only ranked team we have on the road is LCU and we travel well for that game.

Tomorrow Grand Valley State matches up against Michigan Tech. I'm hoping for a good game.

Looks like the game was moved to Friday. Probably because of the holiday and the weather. That means Grand Valley has to be play Tech and then Northern back to back. More curious how Northern does against them. Way to start 2026 with a BANG for Grand Valley. Outside of Ferris, these are their toughest matchups left in the season.

Thanks for the heads up, didn’t see the game was moved to Friday. It should be an interesting weekend for Grand Valley State.

Continue to laugh at where people place Gannon. Gannon lost to Northern Michigan at home. Grand Valley beat Northern by 12 at Northern. I have more respect for any of the top ten Texas teams. Gannon does have IUP at home (coming up next week). I would not be surprised if Gannon would win that one, but at a neutral site or at IUP I am taking IUP.

I’ve yet to see them play yet, but based on results, Northern Michigan doesn’t appear all that great. Lost to Duluth by 15, won in OT against St Cloud at home (who is 1-7 in NSIC play and Mankato has dismantled twice). Much closer games against the PA schools to start the year. I get comparing like that isn’t always a legitimate way to rate teams, but it’s about all we can go with at this point.

I guess what I am saying is, I’m not at all surprised GV beat them. They absolutely should if they’re as good as people say.

It remains to be seen how things shake out, but Northern Michigan could very well be the second best team in the midwest (probably between them and Ferris). The GLVC I am not really sure who advances in that conference. For the GMAC Northwood appears to have the inside track. But they lost to Ferris, Grand Valley, Northern, and Michigan Tech out of conference. Both the GLVC and GMAC are very down in women's basketball this season.

Gannon is about to survive against Edinboro. They were up at 19 points at one point, ended up going to overtime and they win 63-56. Not impressed by Gannon.

They survived and advanced, but I have said that all year. They are getting by playing weaker competition. They only beat Saginaw Valley by 6 points. Saginaw Valley is 6th in the GLIAC right now. I think if Gannon was in the GLIAC, they would be 4th or 5th in the conference at this point, not 5th in the nation.

Now, Gannon's schedule gets stronger over the rest of the season as they have Seton Hill and IUP to deal with. And who knows what they do against Cal UP away Saturday. Cal UP can be dangerous on their home floor.

GVSU is in a tough battle tonight against Wayne State, trailing 70-71 early in the 4th.
Thomas More women beat the buzzer and beat Northwood 71-70! They are now 12-1 on the season, what a start for the program who was NAIA just a few seasons ago.

Thomas More has also played a very favorable schedule up to this point. Their one loss is to a very mid team.

As for GVSU, they luckily did win. Their best player was out however. Take out a player that should be starting at a D1 mid-major and it will have an impact.

Kudos to Wayne State for battling GV hard though. Played them tougher than any team over the last 2 years.

True, their schedule hasn't been too difficult but they're still finding ways to win. The loss to Cedarville definitely brings them down. I do see another team with a good record, Cal Poly Pomona, is now 12-1 on the year but haven't played a difficult schedule. I do like their win over Central Washington though. I don't see them being challenged in the CCAA this season and could end up in the regionals with just 1 loss.

Thomas More is eligible for the tournament this year, but most likely has to win the GMAC to get in. They have the 10th easiest schedule in the Midwest at this point.
