17 double doubles for Schaaf this season leading the MIAA, her latest a 25 point, 13 rebound effort in their conference tournament. She also led the league in scoring AND rebounding while placing in the top five in shooting from the field and the line. Not exactly dog meat. I agree, politics has a lot to do with post season voting.Originally posted by Bballfan View PostSaw Reese Schaaf didn't even get first team all MIAA. Now, I think she had a fine season just as good or better compared to last year. But going from Midwest Player of the Year a season ago to 2nd team in a conference this year? Interesting what they thought of her in the MIAA. She also got co-newcomer of year. Couldn't even get that award outright.
Interesting how politics come into play during the award season.
Clevenger ending her career averaging a career best 10.0 points a game at 37% from the field, having never made an all conference player list in her 5 years of college ball.
She had a good career and played in a lot of big games. Best of luck to her moving forward.

That was my point. They didn't show a lot of respect for a player of that caliber. Given Central Missouri's underachieving season, I get why they wouldn't consider her for conference POY, but to not make first team with those stats is insulting.
Hit the portal and get paid a little at the D1 level. There are a lot of D1 schools that would gladly take her.

Do you think she will do that with her sister being on the team next year?Originally posted by Bballfan View PostThat was my point. They didn't show a lot of respect for a player of that caliber. I believe her sister is a guard. Reese needs good consistent help inside as she is undersized. The CMSU team picture shows this. With the right additions, the Jennies will be a force.
To draw conclusions from one bad game is not fair. Then Southwest Missouri State beat Pitt in the 1986 NIT. NBA bound 6'10 Charles Smith was held to 4 points by SMS forwards 6'4" Chris Ward and 6'5" Greg Bell. No one thought Ward and Bell was better than Smith because it was obvious that Smith didnt have any help inside.

Just talked to Illinois State Coach Kristen Gillespie in the tunnel prior to their game with Missouri State. I didnt know Paige Robinson played her whole grad season for the Redbirds with a torn labrum. She had surgery after the season delaying her WNBA dreams out of college.
League expansion has increased her chances to appear on a roster this season, but her success in Germany and the opportunity to further develop her game might delay this move for another season.
She is just 24. She has time.

The Lady Panthers played their best game of the season IMO in a 34 point rout of upper Iowa. Drury was in foul trouble as three starters sat with 2 fouls much of the second quarter when the game was still within reach. The bench played some meaningful minutes as a result. I like Drury's chances in this tournament if the bench can continue to contribute, particularly Audra, King, Moxness and Gray.
This team is fun to watch and well coached, leading the league in scoring and field goal percentage. Beginning in the summer league, I've thought Caitlynn Daniels would be an All-American at season's end. I hope they get a couple more wins to get her a little more recogition.
Central Missouri finished its season at 17 and 15 losing to the number 2 team in the nation in Fort Hayes State. Reese Schaaf Scored 28 points and 11 rebounds for her 18th double double of the season. Clevenger played 35 minutes, was scoreless, with one rebound.

Maryville VS UMSL was a great game of runs.
*24 to 12 UMSL after one
*41 to 37 at the half Maryville, a 16 point swing.
*54 to 51 UMSL after 3, an eight point swing.
*62 to 59 game Maryville. A six point swing
Maryville's Gracie Stugart just missed out on a triple double. 13 points, 9 assists 9 rebounds. This kid is not quite as fast as Drury's Anna Hitt, but what she is able to accomplish with her speed and slight build is amazing.
The Quincy VS S & T game was also a game of runs ending with the Hawks out scoring the Miners by 9 in the fourth, to win by 5.
If Drury can stay out of foul trouble and again, the bench contributes, I like their chances.

The depth deficiency I was concerned about back in the summer league came back to bite them as Drury was in big foul trouble in the first half. They had an eight point lead in the third quarter before it slipped away. Lady Panther fans got a glimpse of the future as Kaylee king scored 16 points.
They had a good season, making the most of their team speed and overcoming a lack of size and depth that was compounded by the loss of Josie Storey to injury in mid season.
The coaching staff has signed a very good freshmen recruiting class so far for next season. They need some good transfers to add immediate experience.
The Lady Bears won the MVC regular season at home yesterday in front of 4,000 fans.
Time to turn attention and get dirty at the racetracks. Another reason to get excited about spring.

Yes I noticed about the Drury foul trouble, BUT Drury held their own in the first half. It is the second half where they had the collapse. And getting a technical on a made 3....that suggests taunting but was it?
Drury women haven't been to the NCAA since what? 2014?

That foul trouble absolutely contributed. Drury needed Daniels on the floor for at least 35 minutes. She played 22. The most productive forward by far all season was Sara Mendal who played all of 9 minutes. 2 fouled out and 3 had four fouls. A little depth would have helped. A couple of the players could not match Quincy's physicality.
Drury sure could have used Reese Schaaf, who showed she could continue the same level of play in a new league against teams "with a pulse".

Can we have a do over? Let’s hire this years Quincy coach. So many things I’d like to say about this years Drury women’s coach but the right people aren’t going to listen. The race to the bottom is on. Perhaps someone can be in charge of time outs next season. We sure could have used one in the third quarter last night but we saved them for the end when game was essentially over. Too many bad firsts for this coach. Most striking is no NCAA tournament in how many seasons.
Coach Foster already hit the bottom in this race. Who is running things at Drury now? Not even an overflow the O game this year. Guess the disappointed turn out from prior years was a sign.
I’ve said this in the past. The basics aren’t being taught such as playing a little defense, rather we foul. Run some screens to get our shooters a little space, rather they have to make their own space. Run an offense that isn’t predictable, rather players stand around waiting for Daniel’s to make a play. I’m concerned for next season to see who coach can recruit, maybe just sticking to looking on UTube for shooting guards. She was proud of that. Miller and Eagan are having fantastic seasons because they coach,vs the hope that is now Drury women’s basketball. I’m sure the majority of the teams in GLVC would love to have our record but this is Drury, Right? Watched The MSU lady Bears yesterday and that coach did a remarkable job. When players subbed out the assistant coach would talk to them about opportunities or situations. Drury assistants currently are just getting a free good seat to the game. They don’t coach. Good luck in the future
