Given his previous track record and the roster he inherited, coupled with the fact that in today's world you'll take 3 steps back immediately if you fire him, I'd think the decision should be made on what's ultimately going to be best for the program...not "it's been 4 years he has to go".

Hesser's last year here, Drury was barely .500 and lost to SBU by 35 on our home court. The year before that we lost to Blackburn College at home (which might be the worst loss in school history) and lost to Indy by 40. And none of that changed the fact that Hesser was still one of the best coaches in all of college basketball.

    • Those are very valid points, and turnover plays a huge part in these situations. I would hate to see Hardrick, Applegate, Howell and Gipson to the portal if Foster was let go

And yes, I explicitly said Coach Foster has had some bad luck. I also never said I'd give him an extension and a raise, but I wouldn't fire him either. A coaching change in today's college basketball means your whole team leaves and all the good incoming HS recruits de-commit and reopen their recruiting. You've got a coach who has already proven he can win at this level in his last 2 stops (Truman and McKendree...and both of those places were bad before he got there), and you've got some good returning players and some good signed HS recruits. The time might come when making that move is what's best for the program, but it isn't today.

Also, Drury was 2nd in the GLVC in attendance this year. Yes, I know attendance is down for Drury standards, but if you think think things couldn't get worse, I'd invite you to go to some road games and see how other teams draw. UMSL made the regional final this year and played in front of 185 per game. Take a trip to Rockhurst and let me know what you see there.
You’re correct it’s Hesser, my iPad made the spell check for me. I saw that later but didn’t think it too egregious an error to fix. Again not arguing for or against Hesser but I agreed at the time he left that it was time for the change. Regarding coach Foster you must give this group an idea of what it would take to make a change. When he was hired it appeared to be a good hire particularly because of his history and I applauded this decision. It just doesn’t seem to be working out.
The first year he coached and brought in the Gayman brothers I questioned what he was doing. The one, and I can’t recall the name but the D1 transfer didn’t carry himself in a manner that was Drury like. He seemed to be more thug than basketball player. It was a bad look. However I was also sitting behind the bench when coach sort of collapsed during the Evangel game and thought perhaps the pressure was catching up. His health has been a factor so it’s hard to measure any real success. But if you do look at his time at Drury in total how much more time to you allow?

        • A couple of pieces have been missing since Foster has been coach IMO. One WAS the lack of a standout point guard. Hardrick has filled that role superbly. The second deficiency was the lack of a tough forward who knows how to rebound. Ryan Gordon would have helped in a big way. That was more back luck for Foster that he couldnt control. Hopefully incoming Illinois All State freshman Keshaun Thomas can fill that role.

          • It’s nice to see Molly Miller take the ASU role. Really happy for her and her family. It’s always nice to see Drury standouts doing well outside of the Druryprogram. We have been blessed with great basketball over the years. Having grown up in the Syracuse, Ny area it was always a gift to have the Orange as a team that was always competitive. There were some down years much like we see in Drury now but we came through. Just want the best for the Panther teams!

Good time to make the move after losing in the NCAA tournament. Bout as best as you can do with a mid-major until you have to face a team in the upper echelon.

              • There are numerous college basketball players posting their phone numbers and email addresses on their twitter accounts. This isn't good for anybody but the rich. The NCAA (self censor) Continues to make decisions to benefit the very few at the expense of many.

                • Drury guard Logan Applegate has entered the transfer portal. Another blow as the Panthers lose one of their core three returners and best players.

                  • He is one who posted his contact information on his X page. Riek did the same. I wasn't aware Ricky had eligibility left.

                    • The transfer portal is the ultimate challenge as each team almost starts over each year. I looked at the X accounts and there sure are phone numbers. Life as a basketball player coach is much different than just a few years ago! There really has to an art to this

If a player lists contact information, a coach can consider it lucky. More and more just put "contact agent" on their profile. Sad.

These players have already posted offers. The NCAA has proven they don't care about women's rights or small colleges. They have proven to be ******* (self censor) without a single doubt.

He doesn't in D2. But a couple years ago a Juco player sued the NCAA for more eligibility saying his time at a Juco shouldn't count, so the NCAA caved and gives players who went to Juco more eligibility at D1 schools only.

And who does this benefit besides the player.

The team that wants that player too.
