Not related to Drury, but we often discussed the Indianapolis women last year, how out of control they were, and an extension of their coach. Then unbelievably Indiana State hired that coach.
There are 11 Indiana State players in the portal now.
The Sycamores reaped what they sowed with a stupid hire.

Bballfanatic, do you have a single site you can recommend for info, or do you hang 10 surfing like I do? Edit: The Lady Trees finished at 4-28 BTW. But hey, after absolutely obliterating the unofficial GLVC record for team technical fouls, he had zero last season at his new position.Originally posted by Bballfan View PostNot related to Drury, but we often discussed the Indianapolis women last year, how out of control they were, and an extension of their coach. For coaching news....
https://whoopdirt.com/
For women's D1 portal information....
https://www.on3.com/her/news/on3-202...ortal-tracker/
A couple years ago this site included D2 women's portal information, but that became too difficult for them. I like how they include more info on the D1 transfers, but isn't as up to date on the other site noted above...
https://wbbblog.com/womens-basketbal...s-d-i-2024-25/
This time of year you need to check these sites on a daily basis to keep track of all the comings and goings with women's college basketball.

Nice move by Drury women’s basketball bringing in Payton Richard’s as an assistant. I’ve been rooting for her to be hired for a while, nice to see coach Bailey bring a connection to the past. Hopefully this leads to some continuity within the coaching staff as time goes on. Look at the blueprint for Ashland or ina different respect Lubbock Christian. Ashland churns player to assistant, to coach to D1, and so on. LC has kept the same coach for a significant time. Both teams have a history of ending Drury season and have won multiple National Championships. Optimistic we can get back to “Elite” status.

She was a nice player. Always overshadowed by somebody even better on the team, but brings a championship attitude to the team. I think Drury women have got away from that recently.Originally posted by Pantherbooster View Post. Optimistic we can get back to “Elite” status.
As far as getting back to elite status, Grand Valley is who has to be overcome now. The money and resources they have cannot be matched by private schools. They really shouldn't be D2 at all, but they want to be the big fish in a small pond and dominate D2 athletics overall. Why they almost always win the Learfield Cup year after year after year, with a few exceptions.

Quick thoughts:
The Lady Panther's 2025-2026 roster just needs three good transfers to be competitive on a national level again IMO. King, Gibbons, and Mendel are returners to be excited about with their combination of athletic ability, skill, youth, and work ethic. Storey was starting to be a strong contributor before her season ending injury. Jazz has great potential to be very good also.
I'm curious about the status of New Mexico State transfer Raegan Halliday who missed last season with an injury. Her presence, along with the return of Payton Richards to the bench, adds a valuable dimension apart from basketball to this team.
The incoming freshman recruits are high level. I'm personally very excited about two of these players. I hope changes are made soon to the portal for obvious reasons.
A couple more thoughts about the coach. Your team doesn't lead the league in scoring and field goal percentage if you don't know what you are doing. A severe lack of talented size hurt them defensively. Bailey is more than capable in this area too as she is the one who dramatically changed the defensive culture at Quincy. I submit if she had stayed in Quincy with her established leads in that area, she would be coaching D1 by now.
Speaking of the portal, Logan Applegate is moving to Charlston, SC and joining the Citadel team. Good luck to him.

A few years back there was a site that listed D2 and D3 transfers as well, but the amount of portal names are just overwhelming now. You have almost 25% of D1 women in the portal. That is approximately 1,250 players. Just insane.Originally posted by crazznewt View PostIt would be nice to see the D2 portal list. I did see Missouri State lost another star player in Kyrah Daniels. They did pick up a good one in Zoe Canfield, who left the KU Jayhawks. She is the sister of former Drury recruit Jett Canfield.
Saw today the Horizon Leauge MVP on the women's side is hitting the portal. Two weeks ago she announced she was coming back to her school (Cleveland State) for her fifth year. But now she is too good for Cleveland State and no doubt some other team offered more. Just two seasons ago she was a D2 player for Glenville State. Before that she was at Toledo. So for those that track such ridiculousness...
School 1 - Toledo
School 2 - Glenville State
School 3 - Cleveland State
School 4 - ?
Once upon a time you went to college to get a degree. Now some of these players are just mercenaries going to the highest bidder. How can that even be enjoyable! Personally, I think there should be a one time transfer UNLESS there is a coaching change or you are a grad student. At some point this nonsense has to end.
