      Always an interesting look at the region. With everyone at the halfway point of the season, it's looking like it's likely to be another 1-bid year for the GMAC (it would depend what Walsh does the rest of the way to see if they could outlive getting bounced in the GMAC tourney). Five of the bottom 10 teams (and 8 of the bottom 16) in the region per this measure being from the GMAC puts a lot of SOS dingers and bad loss potential out there. That's one nice thing the GLIAC has going for it: a lot of middling teams (only 2 of the bottom 16) so losses aren't entirely crippling.

      The GLVC has two locks at this point: BU and UMSL. The GLIAC has two locks at this point: FSU and GVSU. UIndy is in a good spot as well after a really good week last week.

            Well, with 70% of conference play over, a team (Rockhurst) that hasn't been near the top ten in any of my proxy regional rankings is higher in the GLVC standings than my current regional #1 (Indianapolis). And this is after Indianapolis beat Rockhurst on the road on Thursday.

              Wow, UMSL, Bellarmine, Ferris State and GV State all lost yesterday! Good luck to the guys who have to decide the 8 teams getting into the regional.

                    Yes, if I looked at the PI without considering the recent losses, I would think it is a pretty normal year with the first 5 or 6 pretty much set to make it to the regional. But given that 4 of the top 5 just lost and at one (BU) and maybe couple others are in freefall, I am not sure anybody is guaranteed yet. Not only is picking the eight going to be tough but who the heck will be the No. 1? Somebody needs to go on a run and win out to make for a clear choice. Any of the top eight in the PI and also SW Baptist could do that and be #1. Unfortunately, the best candidate to win out is Walsh with really only one maybe opponent (Findlay) capable of beating them. Who knows UF might lose in GMAC tourney before getting to Walsh. Hate to see Walsh get it with such a weak schedule. But will the committee have the guts to give the #1 seed to a potential 5 or 6 loss team over a 3 loss team?

                      Look at the OW% column for Walsh. Such a difference from all of the others - in fact, they have the worst in the region, and 2nd worst in the nation behind Salem's 37.86%. Their 3 losses are probably equivalent to 6-7 losses for one of the teams with a tougher schedule.

                        Yes it seems highly unlikely right now but if Walsh wins out and the next best record in the region has six losses, who knows? Although Findlay didn't even make it in the regional one year when they had only 4 losses and they were still in the GLIAC at the time. It's a crapshoot for sure. I gotta believe my team will wake up and win the rest. In the immortal words of George Michael and Wham!:Gotta have faith, faith faith. (See how desperate, I have become over this bad spell, relying on bad 80's songs!)

                          If Walsh wins out the regular season and then loses in the G-MAC tourney finals then MAYBE the G-MAC gets 2 bids...but that's got to be the only scenario, IMO.

Not sure which 4 GLIAC teams you are watching, but it looks to me like about 6 GLVC teams should be in before that 4th GLIAC would make it. Honestly, I can see a 5 GLVC, 2 GLIAC, 1 GMAC lineup this year, barring lower seed champs in the conference tournaments. And if there are upsets, it smells like GLVC at the moment.
