Top 25 - Women's and Men's

In the women's rankings, #1, #2, and #3 are all from the Midwest region. One reason I'm not a huge fan of the way the NCAA tournament works on the D2 level. Doesn't D3 do it more similarly to D1?

GV men come off an exciting game on Thursday night (down 13 in 2nd half vs. Michigan Tech, came back to win by 2 in OT, 95-93). Team is coming around and really hitting a stride. Only blemishes on record are @ UIndy and @ Ferris State. Top of GLIAC at this point.

GV women are gonna have to stay flawless, beat Ashland when they come to Allendale, and hope for help to host the GLIAC tournament again (maybe from Ferris? They've been playing tough in Big Rapids lately).

UIndy men had a big win this week (or late last week, correct me if I'm wrong) vs. #1 Bellarmine. Should be a good boost in the rankings for them.

On the women's side:
Drury, Ashland and Grand Valley will each finish this season deserving to host a regional instead of fighting to get out of the same one. The pressure is a little higher for these teams knowing just one loss in conference games will cost their school and community a tremendous opportunity come tourney time.

On the mens side:
I think UMSL, Indy and SBU will be serious contenders to end Bellarmine's Impressive run of GLVC Championships - especially considering these games will be played on a neutral floor.

Tonght, the Lady Panthers finally looked good shooting the ball by hitting open shots. They shot 52.4%, including 10 for 21 from 3 in the first half. The starters played less than half the game and Drury still scored 116.

Diestelkamp grabbed her 1000th rebound tonight and will likely score her 2000th point Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bellarmine is upset by "Lincoln IL junior College".

That was an impressive win by Ashland. However, Drury will have something to say about who is the best team before this season is over. They beat the number 2 team in the conference by 51 and their offense is catching up to their defense - which statistically, IS the best in the nation. All this while playing the 4th toughest schedule in the nation.

All debateable points. But declaring Ashland is the best team is a bit premature.

Home courts for Ashland and Drury are among the toughest in the nation. Hopefully we host.

Number 3 Texas A&M Commerce falls to West Texas A&M for their first loss this season 58-55.
The Lady Panthers beat West Texas A&M 71-44 earlier this season on a neutral floor.
