    Re: GLVC February 2/4 Thread

Bellarmine has now secured the first GLVC bid of the year - they've permanently passed UIS, McK, and Maryville with their record and also own the first tiebreaker over St Joe (should both teams win out/lose out the rest of the season to tie their records)

USI and UWP are now one win way from their bids.

    If GLVC were seeded today:

    First Round Bye:
    1. Bellarmine (E1) 10-1
    2. Quincy (W1) 8-3 [tiebreaker #2 over Quincy with divisional record)
    3. USI (E2) 9-2 [tiebreaker #4 over UWP with divisional road record]
    4. UWP (E3) 9-2

    First round (12@5, 11@6, 10@7, 9@8)
    5. Truman (W2) 8-3 [tiebreaker over UIndy with win over BU]
    6. UIndy (E4) 8-3 [tiebreaker #4 over Lewis with divisional road record]
    7. Lewis (E5) 8-3
    8. Drury (W3) 6-5 [tiebreaker #2 over Rockhurst with divisional record)
    9. Rockhurst (W4) 6-5
    10. St Joe (E6) 3-8 [tiebreaker #1 over UMSL, head-to-head]
    11. UMSL (W5) 3-8 [tiebreaker #1 over S&T, head-to-head]
    12. Missouri S&T (W6) 3-8

    Staying home:
    13. William Jewell (W7) 2-8
    14. Ill-Springfield (W8) 2-9
    15. McKendree (E8) 1-9
    16. Maryville (W8) 1-10

Not that it matters a ton since TSU/UIndy play on Thursday and it could settle it w/ a road win, but for the time being, wouldn't TSU be the 5-seed due to their home win against Bellarmine (UIndy lost at home to BU)?

You are correct - I missed that one! I apparently really had the USI game on my mind. Thanks for checking me. Fixing now.

The two games I'm most looking forward to tonight are Indianapolis/Truman and Parkside/Rockhurst. The 'Hounds are shooting the ball really well right now, and Truman got crushed on the boards last Saturday in their loss to S&T, so really it might come down to whether the Truman team that beat Drury by 33 and forced a ton of turnovers or the team that lost to S&T by five shows up.

I also am interested to track Parkside/Rockhurst... RU is a completely different team at home (11-2 vs. 1-5 on the road) and this is a long roadtrip for UWP & Lewis to the Kansas City schools. I think Parkside will win, but I also think it will be a nip-and-tuck game throughout.

This is meant as an observation, not a bash - isn't this about the time of year when USI historically drops a game to someone awful? i.e. Maryville last year? Could S&T do the same this year? Ok maybe it's a little bit of a bash but it's also true.

If Rajala is not playing, I would expect USI to have a tough game against S&T. It's not that Rajala is an All-America, its just that they have no viable substitute.

Bellarmine might have a tough game against S&T as well, because one thing S&T does is get offensive rebounds. That has traditionally been BU's achilles heel.
