Huge week for UIndy. Of course they are more than capable of running the table in the tourney but a couple of home wins against Lewis and Parkside could get them off the bubble I think.

If BU wins their two home games against UIS and Mckendree, will they have clinched the GLVC #1 seed regardless of the result of the USI game?

yes because they will have a better divisional record then USI, which is the first tiebreaker.

              Re: GLVC February 13/16/18 Thread

Looking at the league schedule with three games left, if nothing really crazy happens that defies the current course of the season (ie, Maryville winning 3 games in a row after winning 2 of their first 15), there's really these groups:

Group A -- Bellarmine, Southern Indiana -- These two teams pretty much have a top-4 seed (likely the #'s 1 & 3 seeds) wrapped up and a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.
Group B -- Parkside, UIndy, Lewis -- This group could either be completely settled, or even more muddled, after this weekend, with the "victor" likely taking the #4 seed and a first-round bye. The other two are likely in line for seeds in the 5-7 range.
Group C -- Quincy, Truman -- This duo is most likely playing for the #2 seed and the #7 seed (could be 5 or 6 based on tiebreakers) -- probably to be settled in the final regular season game next Thursday at TSU.
Group D -- Drury, Rockhurst -- Likely headed to a first-round battle in the 8/9 game. Drury probably has the inside track since RU has to play at both QU & TSU while the Panthers head to STL to face Maryville & UMSL this weekend. Either could move up to a possible 7 seed if Truman goes 0-3 or 1-2 (and loses tiebreakers)
Group E -- UMSL, S&T -- These two, based on schedule, probably have the most inside track to a 10/11/12 seed. They play each other and both have to play Drury, but they avoid QU, TSU, or RU in division play down the stretch.
Group F -- Jewell, St. Joe, UIS, McKendree -- The last seed is going to come from whichever team comes out of this last stretch with a win or two ... UIS and MCK get a benefit from playing each other (so there's one win); WJC has to play QU/TSU/RU and SJC has to play UWP/LU/UINDY.
Group G -- Maryville -- The Saints get home games this weekend against DU/S&T and also head to UMSL, but they're at least two games back of the 12-spot now and would need to likely come out on top in a multi-team tiebreaker unless a 3-win run closes the year.

                Re: GLVC February 13/16/18 Thread

At this point, as long as BU wins both games this week, they should be guaranteed the #1 seed. Even if USI beats BU (and ties them by winning out), BU holds the tiebreaker with divisional record.
It's very difficult for me to imagine BU losing either game this week (how is that for a whammy?).

That means that USI is pretty much a lock for #3 - they are 2 games ahead of the current 4th place group (UWP, Lewis, UIndy), so in order to NOT get the 3rd seed, they'll have to lose at least one game this week. Again, this shouldn't be a problem for them to win both home games.

So basically, I think USI can plan on playing a noon game on Thursday, March 2. I hate that it's in the middle of a weekday.

Where did you see the schedule for the GLVC tourney? When would the #1 seed play on Thursday (Not saying who that might be, thus avoiding the self-whammy!)

One thing you may get a benefit on, since the tourney is in Evansville this year, is that the GLVC office reserves the right to set the quarterfinal round game times as they so choose. I believe this is partly in order to get the largest possible crowds in the evening.

In 2016 (St. Charles, MO), the order went 1/8, 4/5, 2/7, 3/6 -- that allowed Drury, Quincy, and Truman to be in the 6:00 & 8:30 time slots.
In 2015 (St. Charles, MO), the order went 1/8, 4/5, 2/7, 3/6 -- allowing Drury, UMSL, and Truman to be in the 6:00 & 8:30 time slots.
In 2014 (Evansville), the order went 4/5, 1/8, 2/7, 3/6 -- while USI played the noon game, UIndy/BU went primetime at 8:30.

Not sure the rhyme or reason, but unless they've changed that policy this year and set specific game times for specific seeds, at least the listed 3/6 game this year at "noon" hasn't actually been the "noon" game in the past three years.

If the conference tournament was today:
                          1. *Bellarmine (E1) 15-1
                          2. *Quincy (W1) 12-4
                          3. *Southern Indiana (E2) 14-2
                          4. *Indianapolis (E3) 12-4

                          5. *Truman (W2) 11-5 (tiebreaker #1 over UWP with road win)
                          6. *UW-Parkside (E4) 11-5 (tiebreaker #1 over Lewis with road win)
                          7. *Lewis (E5) 11-5
                          8. *Drury (W3) 9-7

                          9. *Rockhurst (W4) 8-8
                          10. Missouri S&T (W5) 5-11
                          11. Saint Joseph's (E6) 4-12 (tiebreaker #1 over UMSL with road win)
                          12. Missouri-St. Louis (W6) 4-12 (tiebreaker #2 over William Jewell with divisional record)

                          13. William Jewell (W7) 4-12
                          14. Illinois Springfield (E7) 3-13 (tiebreaker #1 over McKendree with road win)
                          15. McKendree (E8) 3-13
                          16. Maryville (W8) 2-14

                          Extra Notes:
*Bellarmine needs just one win to clinch the overall #1 seed.
*Quincy could secure #2 overall seed with a win and a Truman loss on Saturday.
*Southern Indiana has clinched a first-round bye.
*Indianapolis can clinch a first-round bye with a win and a Lewis loss on Saturday due to owning a road win at Truman.
*UW-Parkside & Lewis cannot be worse than #7 seed due to each owning a road win at Drury.
*Missouri S&T needs just one win to clinch a tournament bid due to owning a road win at UMSL.
(Probably more but those 4-12 / 3-13 tiebreakers get ugly)
