I've said before that if/once momentum starts going the G-MAC way, there may be enough profile-fitting schools for two conferences, so....

    The Great Mid-East Athletic Conference:

    Mercyhurst*
    Gannon*
    Seton Hill*
    Ashland*
    NDC*
    Lake Erie*
    Walsh*
    Malone*
    WJU
    AB*
    D&E
    WVW*
    Charleston*
    OVU
    + UC for women's sports

    The Great Mid-West Athletic Conference:

    Hillsdale*
    Findlay*
    Tiffin*
    ODU*
    Cedarville
    Urbana*
    UIndy*
    Taylor*
    IWU*
    KWC*
    BU
    TNU

    * Football

The NCAA would have to create another conference and nix one, I get your point. Sometime in the near future the G-MAC will need two divisions.

Any NAIA Program can be taken off that list, and I'm not sure which of those are. IMO, the NCAA has slammed the door on all NAIA programs for a reason. The NAIA is older than the NCAA, and it has a place in college athletics.

Why Urbana? Why even give them a second shot. They got what they wanted. I would say the same for NDC, but I have a different feeling about them.

It was stated by the G-MAC from the beginning that if any school sought admission into the G-MAC from the GLVC, that would have to be worked out directly by the two Commissioners.

In fact, IMO, everything in D2 goes through the offices in Indianapolis, including the NCAA office. The NCAA probably dictates most D2 conference moves. Maybe, they will open the door again for new transitioning programs from the NAIA, but not until the NAIA is restructured itself.

Bellarmine may very well go D1. I doubt they will. USI definitely needs to go D1.

Don't read too much into the Urbana inclusion. Like I said, that was purely for entertainment purposes. Just an exercise showing how many profile-fitting schools are in a slightly expanded footprint. All are current D2s except for two NAIA's.

I feel more confident in that happening on June of 2018!
When UF joined the GMAC, their announcement came on June 29th. I believe most of the incoming schools announced at the END of that June which is why I said earlier that I don't expect any news until the end of June.

I swear it was earlier than that! I remember speaking at UF with my daughters coach about the switch. But the release is dated June 29. Early or late June doesn't matter I guess!!!

Listened to Mark Elliot radio show. No loose lips or surprises.

He said G-MAC geography is not what they want, but due to the nature of the schools, the G-MAC is where they will stay. Said G-MAC has great trajectory and leadership.

I think G-MAC athletes won 4 events at Track and Field Nationals (the 2 Cedarville athletes I highlighted above, plus the Malone discus athlete and the hurdler from Ursuline).

Prior to yesterday, I think Carsyn's 3 previous individual National Titles were the only National Titles the G-MAC had - in any sport. That prior total was more than doubled during the last two days of competition. And, I'm not even counting athletes from any of the incoming schools. As Mark Elliot said earlier today, the G-MAC is on a great trajectory!

This is potentially SJC's replacement in the GLVC:

                          http://benueagles.com/news/2017/4/4/...ransition.aspx

Heard the rumor at a party last night. When I came home, I found the above story - which would appear to support that the rumor isn't a totally crazy one.

Anybody else hear anything about this?

Interesting. Have not heard anything about them. Helps Lewis and Parkside for sure if they would indeed move up. It still surprises me when D3 schools move up. I don't know why I guess I just have this ideal that they are the "true" model for the student athlete. Silly.

I agree - as many have said on here before, DIII's are usually happy where they are. It's especially unusual to see an 1800s school with over 50 years in DIII contemplate this. It looks like they see a need for DII in IL (and specifically the Chicago suburbs) and think they can fill it. They may be on to something. Chicagoland is littered with DIIIs.

As for impact to UIndy - at least it's closer than another MO school, it gets them into the Chicago market, and it has football.

Kinda makes you wonder if they were contacted about a possible move? Total stretch I know. I know next to nothing about them but other than they are in the Chicago land area so I cannot say great move or not. Quick reaction is meh.
