You have to wonder what the ramifications of Malone's actions today are on the rest of the Athletic department. If they are willing to cut football, will they have to cut other sports down the road? Even if they don't cut any more sports, do athletes and coaches of the other sports feel there scholarships are safe or their jobs are safe? How does this affect recruiting? Tough day for Malone Athletics. I'm sure the GMAC officials cant be happy.

Alderson-Broaddus pounded Davis & Elkins today, 78-57 in Philippi. With the win AB improves to 6-6 in G-MAC play. Hey D&E - that's what you get for leaving the conference. ;)

First D&E announces they're leaving the conference and now Malone is dropping football. I agree with you about the G-MAC officials not being happy.

            edit: found it.

I think the G-MAC has a few questions and storylines out there right now:
              1) football - do any other schools follow suit? (the LEC posters have speculated and Walsh just lost their cross town rival)
              2) does the G-MAC look to add another football school (or two)?
              3) how does losing D&E affect AB?
              4) TNU (and KWC to a lesser extent) has been holding-on way out there by themselves for a really long time
              5) Ashland is planning to revisit the issue of realignment in 2020

                  Spring Championship locations:

Baseball - remains at Prasco Park (just north of Cincy)
Softball - moves to Firestone Stadium (Akron)
Golf - after years in the Cincy area, moves to the University Club of Kentucky (Lexington)
Track - Indoor at Findlay, Outdoor at Hillsdale

                    G-MAC and ECC announce inter-conference lacrosse scheduling/challenge.
                    https://greatmidwestsports.com/news/...nge-event.aspx

The conferences overlap on the ECC western / G-MAC eastern border. Seems to be good move for both conferences. ECC is mostly a NYC metro conference, with one school each at outposts in DC, Western NY and Frostburg (next year). It affords those outpost schools some travel relief as the G-MAC games will actually be easier commutes than their ECC conference games are. Also, this lets G-MAC schools play games in NY recruiting hotbed.

There is a pattern developing. Findlay wins both swimming titles. Now Tiffin wins both indoor track titles. Congrats Dragons.

Who knows who will win the Women's G-MAC Basketball Tournament? It will be good competition and whoever wins the conference tournament should be in good shape for the Regional. I am expecting one of the four top teams to exit after the first round due to a mild upset. I could be wrong, but the odds are sort of in my favor. The top four seeds do not always make the Semis anyway. I know this will tick off the top four seeds, but it is not a slur against any team. Tournaments bring out the best in teams, and you never know what can happen. Teams can get beat on their home courts.

Nobody knows where the Semifinals and tournament Championship will be played. Will that site be awarded to the team the conference deems as the top seed? I wonder who called that shot? I really don't have a problem with it. I am rooting for the Lady Panthers of KWC to win the tournament. They have just as good a shot as anybody. How will the Semis and Finals site be determined? They are to TBA. Will each of the semi final contenders bid on the site? I think it should be played on a G-MAC team court, and bidding for it is a fair way to settle it unless there is a clear cut favorite, which there is not this season.

Top remaining seed after the first round hosts the semis and finals.

1st tie breaker is head on head

2nd is head on head against next highest team

So KWC was 1-1 against Walsh and Cedarville
Walsh was 1-0 against Cedarville......Cedarville drops out (3rd seed)

Either conference used Cedarville as tie-breaker KWC 1-1, Walsh 1-0 so Walsh wins OR
conference used Findlay (4th seed) as tie breaker with same result KWC 1-1, Walsh 1-0
