I have seen several coaches do this and for same reason DU stated here. Smart decision makers make less mental mistakes.

Amazing win by BU on a day they didn't play their best game and the opponent probably played as well as they can. My big takeaway (see the previous two or three posts) is that the BU staff needs to work on handling full court pressure. They did not handle it at all well in the last two games. Last year they had a point guard who was so quick he could single handedly break a press (Al Davis) but from what I see this year its more a situation where we pass the ball into a trap and can't find an outlet. I know I shouldn't be complaining since we are undefeated against some good competition. Thank goodness for the new players this year as "Moves" mentioned.

First of all, great game and Bach was outstanding. As for the negatives, the main problem was on the defensive boards. The press hurt, yes, but the problem was they kept letting Lynn to get second chance points which led to more pressing. Frankly, I think the guys were pretty exhausted with the 3 games in five days and all the travel. Coles had a really bad game and not a very good weekend overall. His travel on the baseline with 1:31 left (kind of counter to the having the PG throw the ball in on the press because he is supposed to be the smart one!) could have cost them the game if not for the clutch play of Bach and Fleming. This team could be special, not because they play great every time but that they have the heart to pull out the close ones even when they aren't their best. I am really happy to see Bach play so well. He deserves it and should solidify his starting job and more minutes. He is a scorer, with an aggressive attitude. He needs the minutes to show all he can do.

Couldn't ask for a better road trip, or the entire start to the season.

May take some time for him to get back in the swing of things, but I'm really looking forward to seeing Cook back out there with these guys.

Just some quick stats I noticed:
CJ Fleming's assist to turnover ratio is a spectacular 7.0. 14 assists and 2 turnovers.
Ben Weyer is shooting 57% on 3's. His overall percentage is 54%.
Adam Eberhard is shooting 64% from the field. He has taken only 39 shots (6.5 per game)
Adam Eberhard leads the team in rebounding at 4.8 per game. This may be the real achilles heel of the team. I heard UofL coach say that rebounding is one stat you want players to be selfish about. We are going to need Alex Cook to come back and be a completely selfish rebounder.
Parker Chitty is shooting 60% from the field. He was about 39% as a freshman at EKU. System matters!

Good stuff. As I said, Weyer may wind up the best three-point shooter in BU program history.

After starting a medical leave of absence a week and a half ago, Kentucky Wesleyan MBB HC Osborne has resigned, effective immediately. Acting HC Mays has been named interim HC. "I am indebted to the young men that have played for the program over the four and a half years, and am proud of them not only on the floor, but also in the classroom...I want our fans, which are our friends, to know I am sorry that I could not finish what I had started." AD Mallory: "First and foremost, we hope that Coach Osborne's health continues to make positive strides. We respect his decision to take his medical advice. He did a tremendous job guiding our men's basketball program for over four years. We are grateful for his dedication to Kentucky Wesleyan."

Worst defensive game of the year: Indy v. Tifffin won by Indy 101-88. The LOSERS shot 59% from the field and 50% (11/22) on 3's. Indy shot 66% from the field and 86% from 3 (19/22). My inclination is to say that most teams would not make 19/22 3's in an undefended warm up. The fact is that Indy actually did shoot better on 3's than undefended free throws (84%).

On one hand the shooting is impressive, but c'mon, where was the d?

Some good news (in addition to a solid win on Saturday, Jenkins coming back, and Ebby feeling good), per Scotty's post-game comments to the media, Alex Cook is coming back on Dec. 14th. Presumably he can play against Le Moyne on the 18th.

I thought Eberhard was moving much better than he has all season so far. Jenkins looked healed to me. When Cook is back, it'll be tough to get minutes for Taylor and Hunter. Corbett and Raymer will have to share minutes. We have four guards that can all play well under pressure (hopefully the coaching staff has been working on the problems with breaking the press) and are somewhat interchangeable and all deserve minutes. Having nine players that are all good enough to be starters is a good problem to have but it makes it tough to get more playing time for players like Taylor and Hunter whose development might be very helpful for next year.

My initial thought about the Midway game on Saturday was that it'd be a cakewalk, but I'm impressed to see that they defeated IUS.

Not too much excitement in last nights game. Parkside has really fallen from grace. Eight players and one assistant coach plus head coach made the trip. UWP looks like they are just gonna "mail it in" this season. Sad to see. In recent years they were always one of the strong teams in GLVC and D2 in general. Fleming and Chitty looked good. Taylor and Hunter need to be able to convert close in shots when they get them if they want more playing time. Last night was their opportunity to get minutes against an under-manned team.

Parkside was pretty pathetic. Frankly, I think the GLVC has to shoulder a lot of the blame for that. Placing the entire Parkside athletic program on sanctions for some minor violations seems over the top to me. Pretty clear that Parkside is just going to weather the one season storm and get the heck out of the conference.

With Indy, William Jewell, and McKendree losing last night, it looks like the GLVC is way, way, down.
