    Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

Update on the women's team from what I gathered:

They scrimmaged Central State on the road last night. They lost 80-59 with our best player and point guard Lorin Clark not playing. I do not know why she did not play or if it is a serious injury.

We got outscored 30-20 in the 4th period. It was 50-39 heading into the fourth period. We had 13 players score points. Tenisha Hopkins, the 6'0" freshman from Sandusky, OH scored 10 points and Parker scored 7 points.

Central State was pre-season voted to finish 2nd in their division in the SIAC right behind Kentucky State. Hopefully Clark is okay. I haven't heard why she didn't play.

      WV Wesleyan scrimmage.

What's up with Bocook? Not dressed tonight and didn't play last week in Potomac State exhibition.

I mentioned on the old thread before it got wiped out that we would be without a player (without naming him) for the first 7 games. That would be him. Time will tell if we ever actually see him.

Team is real young and even more inexperienced. It will take time. Late January and on will tell how much they progressed. There will be some serious bumps along the road this season.

Soccer team beat #1 seed D&E in Elkins. They play Cedarville for the championship on Saturday at 2PM. This is a rematch of last year's championship where Cedarville won 2-1 on penalty kicks after it was tied 1-1 in regulation.

Student Government Association is offering the same offer for the first 50 students in attendance on Saturday.

Soccer. Indeed a great win. Just one more!

                    Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

I did a little research....and this crossover event is going to be much tougher than any one will admit. I don't care what the "G-MAC critics" say.

                    First off....Tiffin:

There best player only played two games last season. Both were against Alderson Broaddus and Kentucky Wesleyan. He was injured after that and did not play the rest of the season. He is back this season as a senior. He was a 2015-16 GLIAC 1st-team pre-season all conference pick and he is a 1st-team all-conference pick again. He had two good games in this crossover event last season. Khaleal McCormick is a 6'6" senior forward who averaged 21 ppg/6.5 rpg in those two games last season. He had 23 points against us in that game where they beat us in OT. He was Tiffin's leading scorer and rebounder in 2014-15 as well. Tiffin went 11-18 last year with him only playing two games. I believe if they had him the whole year that record is completely different. We were never the same team when Malcolm was injured; not even close. The same could be said for Tiffin. They beat us in OT and only lost to KWC by 2 points.

Tiffin also returns Tony Kynard (6'1" junior guard) who averaged 16 ppg last year. He had 20 points against us. They return Alex Brown (6'1" - jr) who averaged 12 ppg/6.4 rpg. They also return (6'1" - Sr) Juwan Johnson who averaged 11 ppg last season. That is a lot of points and experience back for this Tiffin team. That experience could be very pivotal in this crossover when you have that many quality players that have played together.

Tiffin went out and added some serious JUCOs and transfers in the off-season. They added Travon Howard out of Alpena CC where he averaged 17.5 ppg and 6.2 rpg. Brandon Wilkins is a 6'6" player from Mercyhurst NE CC where he averaged 12.3 ppg and 8.4 rpg. They also added a 6'8" transfer from Bryant in Ellis Williams.

This Tiffin team is better than the Tiffin team from last year IMO. They bring 4 experienced, quality players back and added some nice transfers. This is a veteran team compared to our team. This is going to be tough to even play close.

Wayne State beat Division I Detroit Mercy the other night 85-79. Detroit was 16-15 last season and beat two MAC teams. Detroit did return their 3rd, 5th and 6th leading scorers from last year. That is a good win for Wayne State even though it was an exhibition. They return their top 7 scorers from last season. Their five scorers from last year go jr-sr-jr-sr-sr. That is more experience. They also added an impressive JUCO in Jalen Adams who averaged 17 ppg/6 rpg.

Ronald Booth averaged 15.5 ppg last season and had 14 pts against Detroit.
Michael Lewis averaged 11.7 ppg and 6.2 rpg last season.
Marcus Moore averaged 7.8 ppg and 5.5 rpg last season and had a monster game against Detroit (22 pts/12 boards).
Clark Bishop averaged 7.8 ppg last year and had 16 points against Detroit.

We will have a lot of tough work to do the next 7 days to prepare for this crossover event. We need it and the players should take last night's scrimmage to heart. This team will take time. This tournament will give us experience for the rest of the year even though it could give us 2 losses. I think Tiffin will be a real sleeper in the GLIAC if McCormick can stay healthy. Wayne State beating a D-I in a exhibition was at least an eye-opener.

                      Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

Good day to be a Battler!

AB beats University of Charleston 34-17....held UC rushing to under 70 yards. Brandon Jones with 233 yards and 3 TDs. I know UC is down, but they were a program that was in the playoffs last season. Two wins over MEC teams. That only MEC loss was to Fairmont which I thought gave Shepherd a good run today before suffering their first loss.

The men's soccer team defeats Cedarville in OT to win the G-MAC. I am assuming that is an automatic bid to the NCAA.

                            Re: Alderson Broaddus Basketball

I got to watch some of the WV Wesleyan scrimmage and found some positives in the second half. Zimmerman coached as hard as he did 15 years ago. With that said, I have braced myself for losses. I am looking for improvement, effort and development as the season progresses.

Is Kentucky Wesleyan streaming both games this weekend? I see they use livestream (which is good). I am hoping.

The sports center is under new management. My guess is that they have installed video but will not have sound. If so a great improvement.

Sounds good. I have had a lot of parents and a couple of former players message me this morning about video stream.
