  • It's July: Does UAF want to hire a coach?

Wow, talk about dragging their feet. Summer is the time to scoop up the recruits who didn't go D-1 (remember 100% of them think they're d-1, 90% are not d-1) ... it's time for UAF to do something like, you know, make a freaking hire? Not sure how you go through most of the summer without a men's hoop coach, but they're doing it.

You didn't hear? The coaching finalists are currently competing in a sled dog race across the glaciers of Denali. Winner gets the job.

I have it on good authority that Sparling was on campus in Fairbanks this week. Barring a last minute change of heart from either side, this sounds like it will be officially announced any day now.

I like that he's been interested for the job in awhile and has really pursued it. I think this would be an outstanding hire, and like Durham, he's stick around awhile.

UAF officially offered Sparling the job. Almost a done deal now

This thing sure has taken a long time, didn't Durham take the MSU-B job in May or April? Sparling would be an excellent hire, IMO.

Have to wonder if UAF is going in a different direction, it's nearly mid-July without a coach.
