  • Leadership Change at UAF

    https://alaskananooks.com/news/2019/...athletics.aspx

It looks like Sterling Steward has resigned after one year as AD. Keith Champagne moving into the role. I know he was very involved in athletics in his previous role including the hiring of hockey and basketball coaches (no AD at that time).

    Re: Leadership Change at UAF

I think Champagne will do a much better job. He's been here a few years now, which in Fairbanks, says something. He's regularly at most games I go to and way more integrated into the community than Steward ever was. Steward might have been a fine AD for some school, but he looked pretty out of place and uncomfortable at the Patty Center. It's just hard to find good staff who can thrive in Fairbanks. He did not even make it a year; I think he started in the middle of Volleyball season last year.

Still waiting to see if UAF is going to land any coaching changes...
