  • Former CWU athlete at San Francisco

    https://twitter.com/Khalilshabazz0/s...79379613028352

Khalil Shabazz, the former GNAC Freshman of the Year at CWU who transferred when Coach Sparling was not retained, will return for one final extra season at San Francisco. He was named All-WCC 2nd team last season, and he will be the top returning scorer from last season's Dons team that made the big dance.

Meanwhile, other former GNAC FotY Tony Miller is transferring from WSU to find his 4th college home.

I liked this move, even though WSU and Florida, among others were after Shabazz. I admire the loyalty and he has a new coach (an asst. last year) and still stuck around.

Miller ran into a ton of injuries his last two years at WSU. Three years ago he was quite good, then things went downhill. He had a Covid year last year, but he probably applied for a medical hardship season, which he should get. He was at Montana as a redshirt, maybe that was a better bet than WSU, easy to say now. I hope he finds a spot to finish out his career. Honestly, he should go to CWU and finish out strong, nothing wrong with that. Not sure another D1 will take a chance on him; D2's definitely will. I'd take him in a mili-second at WOU.

A good piece on Shabazz. Tomorrow a 2 hour interview documentary on YouTube is coming out on him, too.
