    Trejo-Delgado going to Idaho

Gonna be honest, just saw Seattle Pacific signed two high school point guards and my immediate gut reaction was “what is the point of that?”

In this day and age of players around longer, the likelihood an 18 or 19 year is going to be able to compete for 2 years is unlikely. And if they are? You can be assured of them hitting the portal looking for D1 NIL deal next season.

People can say they hate it…but man if I’m a D2 college coach I’m probably not looking at a guy unless he’s had two years experience at another college or at the JC level. Let them have their developmental years be on someone else’s time and scholarship slot.

I saw Point Loma play this year and I can't remember how many guys were transfers but they had some sensational players who came in as freshmen and were great as sophomores and juniors and they got second in the region this year.

Looks like Paulson and Smith are the only ones left. They have signed 7 new players for next season so far per VC.

I will say that Loma and their history of success and amazing campus may be playing with a different set of rules as others. But even given that they sign their share of transfers.

Also NIL money just keeps getting bigger every year. Kids are going to chase 50k, 100k. They can always resign with a D2 if it doesn’t work out.

Yeah, I don't recognize college sports much anymore. One semi-neglected recruiting area is JC's, which D2 has done well with in the past. I think that's a better way to go than 4-year portal, though those guys leave, too. WOU lost a few JC guys this year going on their 3rd and 4th schools, then again they weren't that great.

As much as I don't like this era, I also don't like mediocre and less than mediocre teams, so CWU better be recruiting 1-2 year players!

In the 80s and 90s, UAA’s heyday, the NCAA had a rule that if players transferred D1 to D1 then they had to sit out a year. But they could transfer to a D2 and play right away. So UAA grabbed a lot of D1 drop downs each year. This is kind of how they have always built their roster. JC players and transfers. They have never had many 4 year players until the 2010s they started to get more as the rules changed. So this transfer stuff takes me back to when I first started watching them. Guys with 1 or 2 years of eligibility left coming in, complete roster turnover every two years or so.

I heard the portal closed yesterday? Not that it matters, guys transfer in and out all summer. WOU has some serious rebuilding to do.

Here's an example of strange portalling: A University of Idaho point guard, who had a great season, helped take them to the NCAA, portalled out to his 3rd school (he started at Idaho State), to freaking Ohio U. Not Ohio State, Ohio U. Probably got $100 more? He's from Coeur d'Alene, 90 miles up the road from the UI. I think parents may have gone to UI, friends and family could watch him. Nope, he's off to Athens, Ohio. What kind of degree is he getting with his third school? He's not an NBA player and a lot of UI guys make those bad Euro leagues. Another in-state guy is leaving a good UI program to go to a bad Long Beach program, which will fire their coach soon. He's also on his third school, parents might be legacy UI people. Don't get it.

Also, don't these guys have majors? Do they take internships? Do they live in fraternities or resident halls? I'd guess they're so castrated by the portal they don't even have girlfriends. What a bunch of scrubs.

Not a transfer, but CWU adds 6'9" Canadian forward Jack Brumley from CODE Academy in Ontario. Centrals second freshman forward in their recruiting class. The Wildcats could probably still use a transfer forward for more immediate experience.

Wow, that's huge. I thought that guy was a tremendous player when I saw him against Western Oregon in Monmouth this year. He was also the former Northwest junior college player of the year. Very versatile and athletic. Good job by the UAA coaching staff and I'm always excited as a D2 and gnac fan to see the best talent stick around.

He was also the GNAC "Newcomer of the Year" this last season. I also thought he was a very talented player when I saw him. https://gnacsports.com/news/2026/3/4...nac-title.aspx

I'm hoping we'll hear of where CWU wbball Annalee Coronado goes soon. Still hoping she comes back to CWU.
