Luke Chavez, a graduate assistant at Idaho, was promoted to a full-time coach this summer. He was on the Idaho staff that guided the Vandals to the NCAA tournament last year, first berth in nearly 40 years.
Chavez was an awesome player at St. Martin's, the key guy on those great SMU teams, being named GNAC player of the year. I always like to see guys move up in the coaching profession, be it high school, small college, or D1.
