Ferris State Beats Conference Rival Grand Valley State to Move Up to No. 2

Ferris State (Mich.) used a gutsy throwback pass to the quarterback on fourth down, which resulted in a 31-yard touchdown reception with three minutes left to take the lead, 35-31, over then-No. 2 Grand Valley State (Mich.). The Bulldogs defense picked off a Laker pass on the ensuing drive to preserve the victory. Ferris State moves up to No. 2 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll, while Grand Valley State drops six spots to No. 8.

Minnesota State still holds the top spot with 28 first-place votes. West Georgia, Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) and Minnesota-Duluth round out the Top 5.

Tarleton State (Texas) made the biggest jump in the poll this week, moving up seven places to No. 9. This is the first time the Texans have been ranked in the AFCA Top 10 since November 2, 2009, when they made it up to No. 7.

There is only one Top 25 matchup this coming weekend and it is a big game in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference as No. 17 Tiffin (Ohio) plays host to No. 25 Ohio Dominican. The Dragons are second in the conference standings, while the Panthers are third.
