    • The Collegiate Sprint Football League is calling things off for the fall- except that Army & Navy might play each other. I heard about this back in the 1960s- it used to be much more popular, especially in the Northeast. There is a 178 pound limit for players.

If you are interested in Sprint Football, here is some history behind it.

The last time Sprint Football was cancelled was 1943-45, in which Army and Navy won a different kind of Championship.

I follow Sprint football because Alderson Broaddus has a team. The Battlers first season was just last year. Too bad they'll have to wait another year to have their second season. It's a faster game because the linemen aren't overweight and slow, so play off the line of scimmage moves quicker. I watched AB play @ Penn on ESPN+ last season. The Battlers lost that game but it was nice to see them get some national exposure.

          • Just wanted to share some live sports highlights from over the weekend. My favorite pro rugby team in New Zealand (the Highlanders) were getting their collective butt kicked by the Chiefs 24-0. And then they woke up!

My understanding is that the weight restriction is the only "rule" difference between sprint football and traditional football - is that so?

I've always wanted to check it out regardless, it sounds interesting.

              • Did we cover DIII SAC already? They've suspended fall sports.

I did somewhere else but I don't think so on this thread. Better to do it twice than not at all. The CAA did for football this morning, and Towson for all fall sports.

This is all happening so fast that it's hard to keep track of.

                          • Not much of a shocker here, but it's expected that most NFL prospects in the high rounds will sit out a spring season.

                            • Anyone hear of the NCCAA's plans for football? I know they are different being that some of their members hold dual membership with other associations, but they've made no updates since April.

They are the last association with football we've yet to hear from in any capacity. The ACCA has also made no mention of COVID, but does not sponsor football.
