Small thing I noticed about this graphic - but D2 technically has three independents with the recent addition of Allen University. They joined less than a month ago. Doesn't appear to be any sort of announcement on their end just yet.

Allen is listed in the NAIA, since it appears they're still a member of the NAIA and the (non-football) Appalachian Athletic Conference this year. Next year they'll presumably begin playing D2 schedules.

They are a first-year provisional D2 member this year, but it's common for those to still play NAIA schedules.

I like that they are looking into holding the championships in the spring/winter for the sports if things change. I think it will be hard now for the FBS conferences to justify playing football with all the other sports likely moving to spring/winter. I could see volleyball for example work in winter, but would have to stagger with basketball.

Good grief. They suspended the indoor track championship, which is typically end of February. A bit too far, IMO.
