You remember St. Thomas, they were kicked out of the MIAC conference (D3) because they beat everybody's arse over and over for years. So they applied for D1 status (FCS) and were granted it, bypassing D2 altogether. That's a bold move!

Yes, I've gone to St Thomas games and had several former athletes play for them, besides working basketball camps there. So I know them very well.

Another layer to that story - they have the legendary football rivalry with St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. Their matchups regularly achieve some of the highest attendance figures in D3. Their final game was to be played this season at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, with the potential for upwards of a 50,000 crowd. They've attracted College Gameday to their rivalry in the past as well.

With all that's going on, that game is all but dead. Their last game achieved an estimated 19,508 fans at Allianz Field in St. Paul, MN last season.

You mentioning College Gameday brings up a question for me. If no fans are allowed at College Gameday would that count as the end of the streak for Ol' Crimson flying on it?

No- someone could just put it on a pole beforehand. Gameday should make sure that happens. Maybe even just a mini-flag in front of Lee Corso.

They could just have Pat McAfee wear a cutoff sweatshirt. We'll count it.

Maybe this is the opportunity to get the Mustang flag on TV... hmm...

                              • RMAC will start practices on Aug. 24. So the Conference Presidents gave themselves until then to make a final decision. The Miami Marlins just had 12 players test positive! Makes ya wonder if even a RMAC conference only schedule helps.
