New Division II bowl game

I'm probably late to the party and am sure it was already reported, but beginning this December, there will be a new Division II Bowl Game.

The America's Crossroads Bowl will take place at Brickyard Stadium in Hobart, Indiana and will feature a team from the Great Lakes Valley Conference vs. a team from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. This will be the fifth Division II bowl game, joining the Mineral Water Bowl, Heart of Texas Bowl, Live United Bowl and Corsicana Bowl.

No, these bowl games are for the highest-finishing teams from their respective conferences that don't qualify for the Division II Playoffs.

At-Large Teams from GAC, Lone Star, and MIAA

It will be an unpopular opinion but I've never had a problem sharing those. I don't see the point of DII bowl games, 28 teams already make the postseason. Be one of them or get back to work.

I like the bowl games, especially in those regions where you have teams with 1 loss get left out of the playoffs, etc.

It will be an unpopular opinion but I've never had a problem sharing those. I don't see the point of DII bowl games, 28 teams already make the postseason. Be one of them or get back to work.

You could say the same for most, if not all, of the lower tier D1 bowl games. As I said, I like it. It gives players/Seniors one more game to enjoy with their teammates.

Big difference is a lot of D1 teams can turn out a reasonably profitable number of fans given a national audience. Unless someone can swing a TV package for these D2 non-qualifiers I'd say this phenomenon will be intermittent.

It gives teams extra practices that can help in developing talent, especially in younger players.

I discovered years ago, if the coaches of my favorite team think it can give them an advantage I do my best to learn to like it.

You do realize how ironic it is for a BEARCAT fan to talk up the value of extra games? My guess is that no D2 team has played more games in the last twenty years than NWMSU and they did it the right way.

You could say the same for most, if not all, of the lower tier D1 bowl games. As I said, I like it. It gives players/Seniors one more game to enjoy with their teammates.

I could indeed, but we are on a D2 site so I didn't. I feel the same about many of those, a 6-5 season should not be celebrated with a bowl game.

Could it also be rewarding those teams that are close to making the playoffs and maybe helping them better compete in the future? Wouldn't more competition be better?
