Re: New Division II bowl game

Only 16.8% of the D2 football teams make the playoffs where most other D2 sports have more than 20% in the playoffs. It's disappointing to not make the playoffs but in D2 enough quality teams get left out that the bowl games are a good alternative.

At 32 teams, it's still just 19.2% and again enough quality teams would be left out to have some good bowl games. Currently, only Women's Lacrosse and Men's Lacrosse have a worse percentage. That link is for D1 sports; in D2 it's actually above 21% for most other sports and one sport has 40%.

I felt these D2 bowl games were silly until GAC teams began participating in bowls and now I would like to see more D2 bowl games. It looks like the ones speaking against the bowls are from the RMAC and if the RMAC had a bowl they would probably feel differently.

So rewarding those who didn't have a good enough season to be one of 28 teams chosen? Like I said...

Also, being just 19% in your example compared to 20, are we really going to nitpick a 1% difference which comes out to less than 2 teams? I hope the RMAC doesn't ever want to participate in a bowl game for those who almost made what matters. They already tried to give everyone a blue ribbon by limiting scholarships to 28, thank goodness they got rid of that a few years back.

Is there any argument more tired than "[thing] rewards those who don't deserve it"? Why even bother?

So give everyone a championship trophy and be done with it. Why have playoffs at all? What's tiring is people not accepting the fact that not being good enough means not being good enough at times. Work harder and try again the next season, or meeting, or interview, or whatever it might be. It's life.

I kinda agree with you because those one loss teams choose to align with closed conferences so we should not feel sorry for them. That being said, I'd love to see a three loss GSC team that missed the PO because of earned access, against one of those one loss teams.
