  • USC West is dropping UC-Davis from their 2021 schedule. They were getting complaints from their fans about playing a FCS team. Evidently USC, UCLA and Notre Dame are the only three FBS teams to have never played a FCS team. Now, I don't know how far back they go to make that distinction, but that is the claim.

That's stupid in my opinion because many times in a down year that FCS win is what makes you bowl eligible not to mention with the 4 game redshirt rule this game helps get the younger guys valuable game reps and evaluate if they are ready to contribute immediately or if they should use the redshirt year for development.

I know that Idaho & Montana used to be in the same conference at USC & UCLA, so maybe they are only going back to 1978 when they split into FBS/FCS or D1 and 1AA as us old guys knew it. Same with Notre Dame if you look at who they played in the early days. But I guess they get worked up about things like this.

Personally I want the Gophers to play one local FCS team a season. UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU and UNI are all close enough to bring their fans along.

I think it should be that way the FCS game is a local team coming in for a pay day but also will draw fans into the stadium. Here in PA Pitt, Temple and Penn State have their pickings of FCS in state schools they could play rather than them paying Idaho $500k when they can pay a local team half of that to play close to home.

            • So I take it USC will bring in powerful New Mexico into the Collesium to replace UC Davis? I'd put money on UC Davis to beat UNM by at least 2 scores lol.

Aloha Stadium is terrible, period. It's a crumblin' edifice with weeds growin' up into the seats. Anythin' would be an improvement.

                  • UH has gone 80 consecutive games over 11 seasons without a home sellout.

Remember when they had an unbeaten regular season? 2007- then June Jones left. Won the division title last year. Not a lot of interest there evidently.

Just a few activities to do in Honolulu, I think...

If proximity breeds rivalry, and rivalry breeds interest, that streak is gonna continue for a while

That is EXACTLY what I thought. Kingfish would be "racist". Interesting how Redd Foxx, who most would agree was a very funny man, supported the show and differed with the NAACP over it.
