Here we go. It's that time of year! There have been many changes already and there could be more before the season starts.
One school had a name change and five others were granted university status:
* Humboldt State University -> California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt
* D'Youville College -> D'Youville University
* Daemen College -> Daemen University
* Dominican College -> Dominican University New York
* Glenville State College -> Glenville State University
* Molloy College -> Molloy University
Bridgeport moves from the ECC to the CACC and it's possible their new Track & Field Indoor teams debuting in 2022-23 will be ECC affiliates.
Northwood leaves the GLIAC for the GMAC.
Emory & Henry College joins the SAC from D3.
Newman and Rogers State are now full MIAA members, they had been associate members since joining the conference in 2019.
The SAC adds Swimming & Diving as a championship sport by essentially absorbing the Bluegrass Mountain Conference. This brings the teams from Carson-Newman, Catawba College, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill, and Wingate under the SAC banner with new member Emory & Henry College.
Sponsorship changes within the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas begin. Field Hockey moves from the SACC to being fully sponsored by the SAC. Coker, Limestone, Lincoln Memorial, Newberry College, and Wingate are joined by affiliate members Belmont Abbey College, Converse, Lander, and Mount Olive. The SACC adds Triathlon to be administered by the SAC; members include Emmanuel College, King, Lenoir-Rhyne, Newberry College, and Wingate.
Barton College and Erskine College Football join the SAC as affiliate members, both were Independent while Barton had a scheduling agreement with the SAC.
D'Youville and Daemen National Collegiate Division Men's Volleyball teams affiliate with the Northeast Conference after previously competing as Independents.
Dallas Baptist D1 Baseball moves from the Missouri Valley Conference to CUSA.
Central Washington, Simon Fraser, and Western Oregon Football begin their affiliation with the LSC while the GNAC ends sponsorship of the sport.
Alaska-Anchorage Men's Ice Hockey returns to compete as an Independent and the Women's Gymnastics team is permanently re-instated.
Holy Family adds Bowling to become the sixth CACC school with the sport. It is not known yet if the CACC will begin sponsorship. All current CACC Bowling schools are affiliates of the ECC.
In Memoriam: University of the Sciences is merging into Saint Joseph's University; the Devils were CACC members in 1999-2022.
Leaving for D1 are Lindenwood and Southern Indiana from the GLVC to the Ohio Valley Conference, Texas A&M-Commerce from the LSC to the Southland Conference, Stonehill College from the NE10 to the Northeast Conference, and Queens from the SAC to the Atlantic Sun Conference.

To date, 51 teams at 32 schools will begin competition in 2022-23 including 10 NCAA emerging sport teams at 10 schools while 3 schools dropped sports. Felician and Holy Family are already ECC affiliates providing the possibility that their ECC affiliation will be expanded. Three D2 schools are adding Bowling, this opens the door to the possibility of D2 splitting from the National Collegiate Division to sponsor its own Bowling championship in the next 3 to 4 years. The NCAA Emerging Sports of Acrobatics & Tumbling, Triathlon, and Women's Wrestling have reached the needed number of programs to gain NCAA championship status in the National Collegiate Division after all the announced additions become officially active teams.
