laker, now I've got a hankerin' for some chili cheese fries and a chocolate frosty. I love me some Wendy's. :D

How about a bowl of chili without a finger. How many years ago did someone try to sue them, claiming that there was a human finger in their chili. Turned out to be fraud, but it hurt business. I went into the one in Fergus Falls, told the guy I was ordering chili and a Frosty to support them. He had no idea that had ever happened. But I don't think he had a clue about much of anything.

Still no membership committee report, but the NCAA membership directory has been updated for 2024–25 and St. Augustine's and Bloomfield are both still on it with their reduced sport counts.

Doesn't prevent a school from up and closing or stopping athletics at a moments notice. Alderson Broaddus closed about a month before school started. Ohio Valley University closed in the middle of a school year!

I wouldn't count on those schools fielding teams if they were on my schedule.

Interesting article about one of the D2 soon-to-be's, Ferrum. Things aren't looking so good over there-- never a great look when the president of the school is resorting to going door-to-door handing out pamphlets to incentivize potential students

Wendy's is so good. One just opened up locally. Those Biggie Bags are a life changer.

Anyway, I see a couple more college closures coming down the pipeline - nothing significant, but I'll share anyway:

Northwestern College in Chicago, IL (not to be confused with Northwestern College (IA), University of Northwestern (MN), or Northwestern University).

City College in Florida

Not sure if either of them have/had sports. Guessing not.

Nope. But I see they are going to have a women's flag football team. Anything to get students to enroll!

Also mentioned in that article is Ohio Dominican. That is another school on my GMAC "death watch" list, along with Lake Erie.

Both of the schools you mentioned appear to be medical trade schools, so your guess about no sports at either school is correct.

The Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) is moving it's headquarters from Atlanta, Georgia to Jacksonville, Florida this Fall.

I’m sure this is going to be a class with a healthy academic profile and 6-year FAFSA repayment rate

Ferrum has also stripped its application to the bare essentials: name, date, address and GPA. Even a GPA below Ferrum’s usual 2.75 cutoff won’t be a deal-breaker this year; Martin said the college is planning to admit those who don’t meet the threshold on a “provisional basis” and enroll them in a new academic on-ramp program.

“It’s admissions on the spot,” she said.

It worked for mortgages, right? Right?

I'm not exactly sure what the membership committee takes into account when considering new applicants for D2, but I can't imagine Ferrum going into the process next year in a state like they're in will do them any favors for their membership application. Guess we'll see what the committee has to say next year
