What are the games of the week this week?

They are playing for a playoff spot. They aren't dead yet. If they were to get past Cal, their final two games are likely wins. The division, yes, is toast.

Honestly, I don't see the path. 1 from GMAC and NE10, 1/2 from MEC and 3-4 from PSAC. Those PSAC will likely be one or both from the SG and the remainder from whoever is left among IUP, ESU and SHEP. I could be totally wrong, but it doesn't feel like a C'HAWK year.

This week there are three good matchups in the NSIC that could have playoff implications:

Sioux Falls at Wayne State
Bemidji State at Winona State
Augustana at Minnesota State-Mankato

It may not feel like it but there is a ray of hope so long as IUP wins Saturday. Remember, Shepherd still has to play both Kutztown and East Stroudsburg. There's still too much left to happen before ruling any team out with 2 losses.

Should IUP beat Cal (and win out) they'd have wins against Ashland (likely GMAC champ) and Cal. There's a path (and unfortunately a real big obstacle Saturday). We'll know their fate in about 72 hours.

Ferris @ Grand Valley - Anchor-Bone Classic, likely GLIAC title, big time rivals, have played against each other regular and postseason 3 straight years; doesn't get much bigger than that.

Pittsburg @ Central Oklahoma - likely MIAA title comes out of this. UCO has a high flying offense, Pitt has an efficient ball control offense. Will UCO get frustrated not having as many possessions? Will Pitt get frustrated having to speed up to score? Should be a great game

Southern Arkansas @ Harding - is it possible Harding goes from seeming unstoppable Back-to-Back National titles to getting knocked out of the playoffs all together?

Augustana @ Minnesota State - likely NSIC title winner comes from this game. With Augustana on shakier ground if they lose

Western CO @ Colorado Mines - After a two title game runs, Mines like Harding might be dancing on the fringe of even making the playoffs.

Emporia @ Nebraska-Kearney - big time trap game for Emporia. They've had 2 weeks off and a long road trip to a Kearney team who was picked last that is more than happy to play spoiler in the conference.

Sioux Falls @ Wayne (NE) - playoff elimination game for one of these teams.

Carson-Newman @ Emory & Henry - E&H hasn't made the playoffs since 2000. They've only transitioned to D2 a couple years and I believe they are playoff eligible this year. This game would be huge for those chances.

Johnson C. Smith @ Winston-Salem - likely CIAA title game, JC Smith has only won 3 times in this matchup since 1977; one of those was last year, can they make it two in a row?

UIndy at Upper Iowa. 1 and 2 respectively in the conference standings. UIndy has had some tighter games this year and Upper Iowa seems to be on the rise. I don’t think the Peacocks can win this, but it will be a good indication of how each team is trending.

In the NE10, New Haven goes to Assumption. New Haven has a one game lead over Assumption in the NE10.

In the Lone Star, Texas A&M-Kingsville goes to Western Oregon. Western Oregon is 5-0 in D2 and in the LSC and their schedule begins to get much more difficult.

Also in the Lone Star Conference, it's the Chile Bowl. Eastern New Mexico vs Western New Mexico. It won't be a deciding factor in the conference title race, but it's a big deal between these two rivals (since 1934). WNMU has won the last two meetings. Go Mustangs!

I probably won't completely trust them unless they win out to their game with Angelo, but it's good for the program, and it makes a stronger case for the LSC to keep them and CWU.

Arne Ferguson has been the HC at WOU since 2005. He has done a lot with a limited amount of resources. Perhaps a lot of the success they have had (he is 103-91 as HC) has been overshadowed by the success of CWU. They have always seemed to be a tough out for my Wildcats and have handled a few of the "big boys" from DII and FCS.
