Where I am at in Southeast Texas I would see a fair amount of Colorado Mines T-Shirts because John Matocha went to high school in a town about 15 miles South of here in Magnolia. I saw one on Saturday and the old man like the dozens before him told me about watching him in high school and he was trying to stay in the CFL.

I saw a You tube clip from Vietnam that someone was wearing a T-Shirt from Ferris State University. Pretty cool.

Am in Florida this weekend for a dance competition for our youngest. Saw a guy wearing a Delta State shirt. Turns out he's there with a few buddies and they all played there in the '80's. One of the guys' daughter dances for her school (Memphis area) and was there competing, and a couple these buddies/teammates of his drove down to meet up with him. LOVE seeing these lifelong friendships these guys have. One of my pals from school has a daughter that plays soccer for a GLIAC school so it's fun to be able to go and watch her play around Michigan and catch up with buddies.

At any rate, the Delta guys and I chatted it up for a while. I've been to a game in Cleveland so we were instantly able to start talking about stuff. D2 is always a good convo starter! :-)

I'm not sure if the UNI track jacket that I saw soon afterwards counts- Cedar Falls it isn't all that far away from Mankato.

Surprising I traveled to Phoenix over the New Year wearing my Pitt State Cap and every airport, restaurant, race I attended people commited about liking my cap or saying GO PITT STATE pretty damn cool.

The local Ace Hardware store always has several piles of surplus/sale t-shirts displayed on a couple tables…$3 apiece.All colors and sizes. I have been known to buy a couple here and there to replenish my supply of t-shirts which I wear daily. So…..I’m scavenging thru the pile of XL’s and what do I find?…..a dozen or so Texas A&M Commerce Lions t-shirts. Now, A&M Commerce has been transitioning to D1 FCS since 2022 but they did win the D2 Natty in 2017 I think. Anyway, maybe this doesn’t seem strange to you or relevant to the current topic until you realize that the Ace Hardware that I found these t-shirts in is in Allendale, Mi……Home of Grand Valley State. Random D2 sighting?? Well, sort of.

I always love going to games and seeing the randomness - not D2 but I was at USD for a football game several years back and there was a couple dressed head to toe in USF gear. Not Sioux Falls, but South Florida.

Handful of stories I've heard of people changing flights at airports way far away both wearing SMSU gear.

Yesterday I was in Sam's Club in West Palm Beach, Florida and saw a college aged, or recently graduated, woman wearing a Wayne State shirt. I mentioned knowing of Wayne State because of my interest in D2 Football. She smiled/giggled and looked at the other two similar aged people with her and said it was her sister's shirt she pulled out of the closet. Her sister went to WSU.
