  • DBU would be a great fit athletically in the Pac-12, for baseball. Hope that goes through for them.

    • Matt Brown from Extra Points wrote today that the ASUN has had talks with West Florida, Lincoln Memorial and Nova Southeastern.

The full report/post is behind a paywall, but pertinent D2 info is viewable: https://www.extrapointsmb.com/p/what...3f84b2c4fa9a94

Dallas Baptist lost to Grand Canyon at the 2024 Tucson Regional of the NCAA Tournament, two games to one. Maybe they can start a PAC vs MW baseball rivalry?

The ASUN is always up to something. I saw their Commissioner on The Big Mountain podcast and he's an interesting guy. You gotta' be creative to keep that conference viable. ;)

I appreciate it, man, thank you!

I applaud them for everything they've done to stay afloat the last couple of years, but even adding some really strong D2 programs doesn't feel like it'll save them forever. But I guess we'll find out!

I know he was at Annapolis UYS Naval Academy.
I had to look it up to confirm, but even David Robinson (probably the other very famous Academy athlete) did two years service before hitting the NBA and becoming a legend.

Probably the last time Navy hoops was relevant too!

                  • Virginia State lacrosse has a home at long last. Men's lacrosse will join the Peach Belt, and women's lacrosse will join the Gulf South, both effective this year. Both leagues are in desparate need of more sponsoring members, so this is a no-brainer for both sides

It's official. There's soon to be a new D2 school with D1 hockey on the block

That's exciting - hockey has exploded in growth in places like Missouri and South Dakota. Good for them. Guessing they'll be UST's replacement in the CCHA.

That's a bit of a reach. The only thing concrete are announcements and plans have been made. They are not quite halfway to their $5.5 MM fundraising goal (though it is impressive how much they've raised). I am pulling for them as I'd rather have a D2/D3 or mid major D1 start up a D1 program. Way better than having a P2 school do so IMO.

BTW, a 2000 seat arena? Are they only angling for an Atlantic Hockey invite?

                              • Now there's a school that could use a football program.

I know it won't happen, but...
