I doubt we'll see it, but this pushes things a bit for some GLIAC/GLVC relationship. Before this move, one with the GLIAC/GMAC may have worked, but not sure if all of GMAC didn't want to play some of the heavier hitters in football. Ashland hasn't been ducking so I do wonder why that didn't happen.

I am sure some GLVC schools won't not mind traveling that far east anymore, but it is a big loss for the conference overall.

Huge get by the GMAC! Instantly raises the profile in the conference as UIndy has one of the top D2 athletic programs in the country.

Also provides a buffer if/when Lake Erie/Ohio Dominican/Ursuline close down. Technically Ursuline is not an independent school anymore but just waiting for the athletics to disappear there, despite what they say.

I have long been hoping for this move, it's a win-win for both UIndy and the GMAC, especially in football. I guess this puts to rest any UIndy to D1 rumors for now.

The Fairfield rumor is for them to be a full CAA member, so are they starting a football program again?
I am pretty sure the CAA and CAA Football are actually two distinct entities.

Former D2 member NYIT, who announced in 2020 that they would be suspending their athletics programs for at least 2 years and still haven't brought them back, has finally announced a return to competition... Kinda.

They'll be starting a sprint football league and joining the non-NCAA Collegiate Sprint Football League, where a number of current D2 members in the Mid-Atlantic house their teams. No mention of returning to D2 competition, just talking about growing their other intramural and club sports, but one can dream, I guess.
They should either make it official and get rid of athletics altogether outside of these club-ish programs or go D3.
